US Classification:
210767, 210 95, 210130, 210440
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for filtering pressurized fluids, wherein a fluid level provides a visual indicator as to the general condition of the filter element. The present invention provides a vertical housing having a fluid inlet for communicating the fluid into said housing and a fluid outlet for communicating the fluid downstream of the housing. A filter element is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet for filtering the fluid. The volume of air within the vertical housing is specifically determined in order to maintain a level of fluid which will indicate the general condition of the filter element.

The fluid filter assembly of the present invention provides a vertical, transparent housing having a fluid inlet for communicating a fluid into the housing and a fluid outlet for communicating fluid downstream of the housing. A filter element is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet for filtering the fluid. The relief valve can also be in the form of a more restrictive filter media.

Filter Cartridge With Pressure Relief Valve

US Patent:
7854837, Dec 21, 2010
Filed:
Nov 10, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/267916
Inventors:
Paul B. Smith - Ann Arbor MI, US
Kevin J. Rucinski - Saline MI, US
Alfred Tondreau - Saline MI, US
Ken Conti - Hampstead MI, US
Assignee:
Davco Technology, LLC - Saline MI
International Classification:
B01D 27/10
US Classification:
210 94, 210130, 210132
Abstract:
A filter cartridge includes a substantially cylindrical filter media and a pressure relieving structure. The filter media is adapted to allow fluid to pass from an exterior of the filter media to an interior space of the filter media. The pressure relieving structure is disposed at an upper end of the filter media, and the pressure relieving structure opens when a predetermined pressure level is established across the filter media to maintain the predetermined pressure across the filter media.

Support Structure For A Filter

US Patent:
8051989, Nov 8, 2011
Filed:
May 11, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/463459
Inventors:
Alfred Tondreau - Saline MI, US
Assignee:
Davco Technology, LLC - Saline MI
International Classification:
B01D 27/06
B01D 35/30
US Classification:
210487, 2104934, 2104935, 2104941, 2104943, 2104971, 55498, 55520
Abstract:
A support structure of a filter element for supporting a filter material that is adapted to filter a fluid includes a first frame portion and a second frame portion. The first frame portion has a plurality of radially-extending fingers that are longitudinally spaced from one another. The first frame portion is disposed entirely on an unfiltered side of the filter material. A second frame portion has a pair of longitudinally-extending support surfaces that are disposed in a spaced, facing relationship with respect to one another. The second frame portion is disposed entirely on a filtered side of the filter material. The radially-extending fingers of the first frame portion and each of the longitudinally-extending support surfaces of the second frame portion support the filter material to define a first radial channel. The radially-extending fingers of the first frame portion space the longitudinally-extending support surfaces of the second frame portion apart from one another.

Fluid Filter With Pressure Relief Valve

US Patent:
2002012, Sep 12, 2002
Filed:
Mar 7, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/800982
Inventors:
Paul Smith - Ann Arbor MI, US
Kevin Rucinski - Saline MI, US
Alfred Tondreau - Saline MI, US
Ken Conti - Hampstead NH, US
International Classification:
B01D035/143
US Classification:
210/090000, 210/137000
Abstract:
A fluid filter assembly having a relief valve for visually indicating the life of a filter element. The fluid filter assembly of the present invention provides a vertical, transparent housing having a fluid inlet for communicating a fluid into the housing and a fluid outlet for communicating fluid downstream of said housing. A filter element is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet for filtering the fluid. In the preferred embodiment, a frusto-conical divider is connected to the top of the filter element and extends downward adjacent a bottom portion of the filter element wherein the fluid from the inlet rises between the filter element and the inside of the divider and between the outside of the divider and an inside surface of the housing. A relief valve is provided in the top of the filter element and is in communication with the unfiltered and filtered side of the filter element. The relief valve opens at a predetermined pressure level across the filter element thereby raising the fluid level and providing a visual indicator that the filter element needs replacement.

The housing has a fluid inlet for communicating a fluid into the housing and a fluid outlet for communicating fluid downstream of the housing. The filter cartridge is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet and includes a filter element for filtering the fluid, as well as means for maintaining and relieving a predetermined level of pressure across the filter element to provide an accurate visual indicator as to whether the filter element needs replacement. The bypass valve allows fluid to flow from an unfiltered side of the filter element to a filtered side of the filter element when the pressure across the filter element exceeds the predetermined pressure.
