Detachable Handle For Containers

US Patent:
6658701, Dec 9, 2003
Filed:
Apr 3, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/063251
Inventors:
Damon H. DeHart - Bedford MA, 01730
Allan R. Tate - Bedford MA, 01730
International Classification:
A45C 1322
US Classification:
16425, 16422, 16DIG 12, 294 271, 294 311, 220759
Abstract:
A detachable handle for securely holding and lifting a container, such as a paint can which has a lid-receiving channel at the top of the container, is formed as an integral unit of injection molded compliant material. It includes a grip, an upper heel contacting the container inside wall at an upper position, and a lower heel contacting the container outside wall at a lower position. The handle also includes a lift point contacting the lid-receiving channel underside, and a middle arm contacting the top of the lid-receiving channel above the lift point, providing vertical stability, and allows the user to hold or lift the container without risk of tipping or spilling. The handle is easily applied or removed by contacting the lower heel against the outside wall and rotating the handle into place.

Activity-Based Software Traceability Management Method And Apparatus

US Patent:
7716649, May 11, 2010
Filed:
Dec 15, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/303632
Inventors:
Geoffrey M. Clemm - Concord MA, US
Allan R. Tate - Bedford MA, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
717128, 717122, 717127
Abstract:
Computer method and apparatus for managing traceability of a software program are disclosed. Given a subject software program, the invention method/apparatus provides a respective history log for each artifact of the program. The invention method/apparatus records in the respective history log changes made to an artifact of the subject software program. During a change being made to the artifact, a processor routine determines from the respective history log related artifacts. An indication of the determined related artifacts is displayed to a user as impact analysis results.

Computer Method And Apparatus For Providing Version-Aware Impact Analysis

US Patent:
8429610, Apr 23, 2013
Filed:
Dec 20, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/314283
Inventors:
Geoffrey M. Clemm - Concord MA, US
Allan R. Tate - Bedford MA, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
717122, 717120, 717121
Abstract:
A computer implemented method and apparatus for providing dependency traceability in software configuration management. Per configuration of a subject software program formed of one or more artifacts, a version history of each artifact is maintained. For each artifact, coupled to the respective version history of the artifact is an indication of status of traceability relationship for each indicated version. One implementation employs a traceability object to maintain and provide such status indications. The status indications are view independent and enable dependency traceability relationship of each artifact to be determinable in each configuration employing the artifact.

Uniform References

US Patent:
2005026, Dec 1, 2005
Filed:
May 27, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/140399
Inventors:
Geoffrey Clemm - Concord MA, US
Herbert Miller - Littleton MA, US
Allan Tate - Bedford MA, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F009/44
US Classification:
717121000
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for uniform references to artifacts in a software configuration management tool. In one embodiment, a data processing system configured to resolve artifact references can include a software configuration management tool and uniform reference resolution logic coupled to the tool. In this regard, the uniform reference logic can be programmed to resolve a path name to a referenced artifact by processing a uniform reference specifying the referenced artifact.

Method For Identifying The Validity Of An Executable File Description By Appending The Checksum And The Version Id Of The File To An End Thereof

US Patent:
5991774, Nov 23, 1999
Filed:
Dec 22, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/995711
Inventors:
Allan R. Tate - Bedford MA
Michael J Saylor - Carlisle MA
John T. Grosser - Derry NH
Assignee:
Schneider Automation Inc. - North Andover MA
International Classification:
G06F 1108
US Classification:
707203
Abstract:
A method for uniquely identifying a file, along with its particular version ID, used in an application program by a central processing unit provides a system for file security. The method computes a CRC for a file and then appends a version string and CRC at the end of the file according to its version ID. The added CRC/version record information is non-destructive. Once appended, the record will be transported with the file when ever it is moved or copied. CRC allows the integrity of the file to be verified at any time and is used to detect viruses or corrupted or tampered files at startup and also during runtimes of the file and its associated application. The operating system will store the new file length in a file allocation table and will also copy a file seal with the file. When used with a set of files for a particular installation, the file seal provides a unique bill of materials to identify the exact file contents of the particular installation. Down loadable files will then be compared with the allocation table to verify the version of the files and will provide error messages if they are not compatible with the installed system base.
