Dynamic Arm Sling

US Patent:
6464656, Oct 15, 2002
Filed:
Apr 23, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/841509
Inventors:
Angelo Salvucci - Santa Barbara CA, 93105
Gary Bradley - Santa Barbara CA, 93103
Christopher Proctor - Santa Barbara CA, 93103
International Classification:
A61F 500
US Classification:
602 4, 602 20, 602 5
Abstract:
A sling having a generally rectangular shoulder pad with a cutout for the users neck and four D-rings attached thereto is disclosed. A chest strap is attached to two of the D-rings, one on each end of the shoulder pad. An arm strap is attached to the two remaining D-rings. Both of the straps are formed of a resilient material to allow the user flexibility and mobility while wearing the sling. In order to create an easily adjusted attachment, each of the straps has a layer of resilient hook material on one side. At each end of each strap is a patch of hook material. The combination of hook and loop material is used to connect each end of the strap to the corresponding D-ring. An alternate embodiment uses two O-rings. Each O-ring attaches one end of both the arm strap and the chest strap to the shoulder pad. Also disclosed is a foam doughnut attachable to the underside of the shoulder pad to create a low pressure area within the opening in the doughnut to protecting a surgical site or other sensitive tissue.

Reverse Registration Method In A System For The Automatic Notification That A Call To An Emergency Service Has Occurred

US Patent:
6504909, Jan 7, 2003
Filed:
Nov 13, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/712655
Inventors:
William C. Cook - Van Nuys CA, 91401
Don E. Reich - Thousand Oaks CA, 91361
Kurt E. Warner - Carpenteria CA, 93103
Angelo Salvucci - Santa Barbara CA, 93103
International Classification:
H04M 1100
US Classification:
379 45, 37912705
Abstract:
A registration method in a system for calling designated addressable notify devices in response to a 9-1-1 call. When a registration call is received from a new customer, the software proceeds with a voice answerback menu to register numbers to be notified. Two choices are provided. The customer can choose a standard notify service or a reverse notify service. In standard notify service parties designated by the customer are notified of 9-1-1 calls originating at the customers telephone. In reverse notify service if a party designated by the customer calls 9-1-1, the customer is notified of 9-1-1 calls originating at the designated partys telephone. The notify numbers are stored in a list in a database memory maintained by the notify service. If a call is received from a current subscriber, the software proceeds with a voice answerback menu to update the previously registered numbers to be notified. Subsequently, if a 9-1-1 call is placed from a station that has previously been registered with the service, the software automatically places a call to each addressable notify device on the subscribers notify list.
