Vessel Sealer With Slot For Removal Of Debris

US Patent:
2023007, Mar 9, 2023
Filed:
Feb 5, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/798242
Inventors:
- Largo FL, US
Aaron Szabo - Swanton OH, US
Assignee:
Conmed Corporation - Largo FL
International Classification:
A61B 18/14
Abstract:
A surgical instrument that will automatically clear any debris from a knife pathway in response to normal operation of the knife. The instrument has a pair of jaws formed from a first jaw member and a second jaw member that are pivotally mounted with respect to each other for movement between an open position and a closed position. The jaw members support sealing surfaces that have tracks formed therein to define a knife pathway for a knife blade used to sever sealed tissue that is trapped in the jaws. Each jaw member has a slot aligned with the distal end of the track to provide a point of egress for debris that accumulates in the knife track. As the knife is advanced along the knife pathway during normal operation, any debris will be driven toward the distal end of the knife pathway and out of the slots.

Connectors For Infusion Pump Feeding Sets

US Patent:
2021035, Nov 18, 2021
Filed:
Jul 16, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/377567
Inventors:
- Columbus OH, US
Joseph Ryan - Phoenix AZ, US
Rachel Kunzweiler - Columbus OH, US
Aaron Szabo - Columbus OH, US
International Classification:
A61J 15/00
Abstract:
Improved feeding set connectors and cassettes are disclosed for use with peristaltic infusion pumps for safely delivering enteral nutritional fluids to a patient. The connectors provide an easy to use “pump-to-set” integration or “keying” system for specific reusable infusion pumps and their matching feeding sets, and can be utilized by medical professionals having various skill levels. The inventive feeding set cassettes can prevent accidental free flow of enteral fluids into a patient, even upon inadvertent release of the connector from the pumping mechanism.

Feed And Flush Delivery Device

US Patent:
2021021, Jul 15, 2021
Filed:
Jan 15, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/743152
Inventors:
Christopher O'Keefe - Columbus OH, US
Rachel Kunzweiler - Columbus OH, US
Aaron Szabo - Columbus OH, US
International Classification:
A61J 15/00
A61M 5/14
A61M 5/142
A61M 5/168
Abstract:
Feed and flush delivery devices are described for use in switching between delivery of enteral feeding fluid and flushing/hydration fluid to a patient, with both fluids being delivered through the same closed system. The delivery devices are simpler, easier to use, and are more cost effective than known prior art valves and control devices. Independent feed and flush lines are typically received by the delivery device, which merges the two lines into a single end delivery line so that either feeding or flushing fluid, but not both at the same time, can be conveyed through the end line, as desired and selected by the user. The delivery device is loaded onto the pumping mechanism of an enteral infusion pump, and can be part of a cassette which is used in combination with a particular brand of infusion pump.

Rotation Mechanism For Surgical Instruments

US Patent:
2021010, Apr 15, 2021
Filed:
Oct 13, 2020
Appl. No.:
17/068940
Inventors:
- Utica NY, US
Aaron Szabo - Swanton OH, US
Assignee:
Conmed Corporation - Utica NY
International Classification:
A61B 18/14
Abstract:
An electrosurgical instrument having a knob with an internal gear, a shaft extending from the body with an external gear that is coupled to the internal gear, and a pair of jaws mounted to the shaft. The internal gear and the external gear have a gear ratio greater than 1:1 so that the shaft and jaws rotate at a faster than the knob when it is turned by a user. The axis of rotation of the knob is offset from the axis of rotation of the shaft so that the knob can project asymmetrically from the body for easier rotation by a user.
