Appl. No.:
11/369810
Inventors:
Baowei Ji - Richardson TX, US
Cornelius van Rensburg - Dallas TX, US
Assignee:
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Suwon-si
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455447, 455445, 455 121, 4554522, 455423, 455 111, 455450, 455446, 455517, 370203, 370208
Abstract:
Dynamic and asymmetric sub-channel allocation in a wireless communications system—particularly an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system—is disclosed. The methods and constructs of the present disclosure identify a plurality of cells, each divided into an equal number of sectors. A transmission channel associated with each cell is divided into a plurality of sub-channel groups. For each sector, a set of adjoining inter and intra coverage area sectors is identified, and associated together as a pool set. For each such pool set, a resource pool is formed from the plurality of sub-channel groups. A single sub-channel group from a resource pool is allocated to each sector in a corresponding pool set. Additional sub-channel group in that resource pool are thereafter allocated to sectors from the pool set on an as-needed, as-available basis.

US Classification:
370346, 370468, 370430, 455450, 4554522, 455509
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication is provided. The method comprises adaptively polling a plurality of subscriber stations to provide channel quality indications for a plurality of channels associated with at least a portion of an orthogonal frequency division multiple access wireless network and adjusting the at least a portion of the orthogonal frequency division multiple access wireless network based on the channel quality indications.

System And Method For Dynamic Frequency Selection Based On Spectrum Etiquette

US Patent:
7840187, Nov 23, 2010
Filed:
Sep 25, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/526454
Inventors:
Baowei Ji - Richardson TX, US
Assignee:
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Suwon-si
International Classification:
H04B 15/00
H04B 1/00
US Classification:
455 633, 455 632, 455 62
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for dynamic frequency selection based on spectrum etiquette. In one example, the method includes identifying multiple frequencies usable by a central subdivision in a wireless communication system that are not in use by neighboring subdivisions. The method may determine whether the frequencies include a frequency that cannot be used by the neighboring subdivisions and, if the frequency exists, may select the frequency for use by the central subdivision. If such a frequency does not exist, the method may identify a frequency that can be used by fewer of the neighboring subdivisions than other frequencies and select the identified frequency for use by the central subdivision.

Pattern-Based Polling Of Mobile Stations For Channel Quality Information

US Patent:
7848347, Dec 7, 2010
Filed:
Mar 23, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/387588
Inventors:
Baowei Ji - Richardson TX, US
Assignee:
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Suwon-si
International Classification:
H04L 12/403
US Classification:
370449, 370346
Abstract:
A channel quality information (CQI) polling controller for use in a wireless communication network is capable of causing a base station to poll a mobile station within its coverage area for CQI at an initial predetermined rate. The controller is also capable of recognizing a CQI variation pattern of the mobile station based upon its responses to a plurality of the CQI polls. The controller is further capable of selecting a CQI polling rate based upon the recognized CQI variation pattern. The controller is also capable of causing the base station to poll the mobile station for CQI at the selected CQI polling rate.

Abstract:
A method for routing data in a network is disclosed. As an example, a method for routing data in a wireless mesh network is disclosed. The method determines what type of data is to be routed, associates the type of data with one or more routing link performance parameters such as, for example, link latency and link capacity, selects a plurality of nodes based on the one or more routing link performance parameters, determines what node of the plurality of nodes provides an optimal level of performance associated with the one or more routing link performance parameters, and selects that node as a recipient node for the data to be routed.

System And Method For Asynchronous Busy-Tone Multiple Access With Acknowledgment For Ad Hoc Wireless Networks

US Patent:
7885213, Feb 8, 2011
Filed:
Nov 18, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/282183
Inventors:
Baowei Ji - Richardson TX, US
Assignee:
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Suwon-si
International Classification:
H04B 1/44
US Classification:
370282, 370278, 455434
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to a system and method for asynchronous busy-tone multiple access with acknowledgement for ad hoc wireless networks. In one example, a method for use in an ad hoc network using a tone emitted by a receiving node includes receiving a first portion of a packet from a sending node, where the first portion of the packet contains a destination address of the packet. A tone is emitted by the receiving node if the receiving node determines that the received destination address matches an address of the receiving node. The receiving node receives a second portion of the packet containing a request for transmitting data from the sending node to the receiving node, and the tone is emitted for at least a predefined period of time after receiving the request.
