Filed:
Aug 23, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/935413
Inventors:
Timothy Alan Dietz - Austin TX, US
Ira R. Forman - Austin TX, US
Carol Angela Logan - Austin TX, US
Nadeem Malik - Austin TX, US
Subhash Rasiklal Vohra - Round Rock TX, US
Charles Gorham Ward - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
705 10, 705 1, 705 7
Abstract:
In one aspect, a method for comparing suppliers includes sending survey questions for receipt by supplier computer systems. Programming instructions are also sent for receipt and execution by the supplier computer systems, The programming instructions are for causing the supplier computer systems to return supplier survey answers to a server. The answers are included in responding documents and are defined in a certain format as data elements included in the responding documents. The data elements are then parsed from the responding documents responsive to predetermined programming instructions and evaluated the data elements responsive to a predetermined set of rules.

Generating An Interactive Display Survey For Suppliers With Subsets Of Questions Delimited Based Upon Assessments Of The Quality Levels Of Quality Attributes Of The Suppliers

US Patent:
2004026, Dec 30, 2004
Filed:
Jun 26, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/607458
Inventors:
Walid Kobrosly - Round Rock TX, US
Carol Logan - Austin TX, US
Katherine Pearsall - Georgetown TX, US
Charles Ward - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/010000
Abstract:
A computer controlled display system for generating quality assurance surveys to be interactively taken by suppliers on computer display systems that will aid those making purchasing decisions to select suppliers that are most likely to provide products having the quality assurance required by the purchasers. The quality level of each of a set of quality attributes of a component supplier are assessed and there is generated for each of the quality attributes a template for delimiting subsets of the plurality of questions in the survey database being presented to said supplier based upon the quality level of the attribute. In operation of the system, the assessing of the quality level includes determining one of a plurality of quality levels for each of the set of quality attributes and the template for delimiting subsets of questions includes generating a different subset of questions for each of the quality levels for each attribute.

Ac/Dc Converter With Multiple Output Cords Having Variable Voltage

US Patent:
2006005, Mar 16, 2006
Filed:
Sep 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/942449
Inventors:
Timothy Dietz - Austin TX, US
Lane Holloway - Pflugerville TX, US
Carol Logan - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
A62C 13/62
US Classification:
239302000
Abstract:
A system, method, and related computer program for an AC/DC converter with multiple output cords having variable voltage. A user can use multiple computer components at one time and can vary the voltage on various output cords that service computer components. The present invention allows a user to retract output cords when not in use. The voltage amount for a selected output cord is shown in the indicator display, while indicator lights indicate whether its corresponding output cord is available for use. A green indicator light indicates the cord is available, and a red indicator light indicates the cord is already in use. Once an output cord is selected by a selector switch, the user can vary the output cord's voltage by adjusting a user input device to increase or decrease the voltage for that output cord. Once the desired voltage is reached, the selection is finalized by activating a “set” button.

Rotatable Docking Station For An Electronic Device

US Patent:
6196850, Mar 6, 2001
Filed:
Feb 10, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/501935
Inventors:
Timothy Alan Dietz - Austin TX
Carol Angela Logan - Austin TX
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
H01R 3900
US Classification:
439 17
Abstract:
The problems identified above are in large part addressed by an docking assembly including an electronic device, a base piece, and a rotating piece. The base piece is electrically connected to at least one peripheral device. The rotating piece is intermediate between the electronic device and the base piece. The rotating piece enables rotational movement of the electronic device with respect to the base piece while maintaining electrical contact between one or more signal carriers of the electronic device and corresponding signal carriers of one or more peripheral devices. The assembly may include a set of conductive bearings at an upper surface of the base piece. In this embodiment, each conductive bearing is in electrical contact with a corresponding signal carrier in the base piece. The rotating piece may include an annular conductive element at a lower surface of the rotating piece. The conductive element is in contact with a corresponding bearing element.
