Behavioral Attention Control Apparatus

US Patent:
2008005, Mar 6, 2008
Filed:
Sep 1, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/514794
Inventors:
John N. Marr - Fayetteville AR, US
Kenneth T. Joyce - Ahwahnee CA, US
John B. Peters - Campbell CA, US
Charles F. Weber - Los Gatos CA, US
Daniel A. Attema - Soquel CA, US
Otto L. Dalmady - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
H04H 9/00
US Classification:
725 10, 348553
Abstract:
A behavioral attention control apparatus and method for treating the short attention span of a child viewing a television that requires the child to respond to an alert signal within a specific window period to prevent the television from turning off. A specialized remote control component has a switch that must be triggered by the child to initially turn on the television and then retriggered periodically to keep the television turned on. A timer defines a window period during which the child must make a valid retrigger. After an interval with the television on, the window period opens and the child is alerted to the opening of the window period by lights and sound. If a valid retrigger is not made during the window period, the television is turned off. The remote control component is desirably housed in an enclosure that would be appropriately attractive to a child. In one embodiment, the enclosure is shaped like a frog and the sound alert is a frog-like “ribbet” sound. The remote control component communicates via radio frequency (RF) signals with a television control component that receives the RF signals and communicates with the television via IR transmissions to the television's IR remote control receiver in order to turn the television on or off. The interval period during which the television remains on may be progressively lengthened if the child makes a valid retrigger during successive window periods.

Portable Motorized Trailer Dolly

US Patent:
2005002, Feb 3, 2005
Filed:
Jul 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/632141
Inventors:
Craig Chidlow - Los Gatos CA, US
Jan Sprohge - Santa Cruz CA, US
Daniel Attema - Santa Cruz CA, US
Steven Reyling - Livermore CA, US
Lubomir Skrobak - Saratoga CA, US
International Classification:
B62D001/00
US Classification:
180011000
Abstract:
A trailer dolly includes an internal combustion engine, a transmission providing both forward and reverse drives, and a centralized lifting handle. The internal combustion engine provides much better power and much less weight than electric counterparts. The forward/reverse transmission includes a sliding shaft which engages a select one of two bevel gears with a larger bevel gear to select forward or reverse drive. The sliding shaft slides along with an elongated clutch cylinder of a centrifugal clutch. An alternative transmission uses sprockets and chains to obviate a case to enclose lubricant. Counter-rotating sprockets alternatively engage a dog-tooth gear to select either forward or reverse drive. The lifting handle mounted generally at the center of gravity (with the trailer dolly in a substantially horizontal position) makes single-handed lifting and carrying of the trailer dolly quite easy.

Articulating Dwelling Frame As Add-On To Existing Vehicles

US Patent:
2019029, Sep 26, 2019
Filed:
Jun 11, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/437913
Inventors:
Daniel Andrew Attema - Soquel CA, US
International Classification:
E04H 15/06
E04H 15/56
E04H 15/32
E04H 15/48
B60P 3/34
B60P 3/39
Abstract:
An add-on articulated dwelling apparatus vehicles has a stationary frame having opposite parallel channels, an extension platform having slidably engaged in the stationary frame, a mattress carried by the extension platform, a cover panel hinged to the extension frame, and fabric panels joined to the cover panel and to the stationary platform, and to links pivotally joined to the stationary platform, and mounting apparatus for joining the articulated dwelling apparatus to the one of the vehicles.

Articulating Dwelling Frame

US Patent:
2019011, Apr 18, 2019
Filed:
Oct 13, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/783486
Inventors:
Daniel Andrew Attema - Soquel CA, US
International Classification:
E04H 15/48
E04H 15/56
Abstract:
A mechanism for extending a floor while erecting a structure, has a linkage, comprising a first frame element constrained proximate and translatable relative to a second frame element, from a minimum retracted length to a maximum deployed length, a third frame element having a length, and joined at one end pivotally to the first elongate frame element at an end away from the second elongate frame element, and a link joined at one end pivotally to the second elongate frame element, and at an opposite end pivotally at a point along the length of the third frame element, such that retraction of the first frame element relative to the second frame element results in the third frame element lying at an angle that is less than the angle when the first frame element is fully deployed relative to the second frame element.
