Elongated Getter Support For Cathode Ray Tube Having Rotatable Member At End

US Patent:
3961221, Jun 1, 1976
Filed:
Jun 12, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/586194
Inventors:
David Benda - Geneva NY
Charles Alfred Davis - Auburn NY
Assignee:
GTE Sylvania Incorporated - Stamford CT
International Classification:
H01J 2994
H01K 152
US Classification:
313481
Abstract:
Improved means are provided for supporting a container of effusive material within a cathode ray tube wherein the container is located at the terminal end of a resilient longitudinal positioning member attached to the electron gun assembly. The supportive means includes at least one support placement means which projects forwardly from the container as a directional continuation of the positioning member. Associated with the support placement means is a rotatable member, the peripheral surface of which tracks in a direction common with the directional trend of the positioning member. The rotatable member, which may be formed of insulative material, effects facile positioning with a minimum of abrasion and positive spatial supportive placement of the container relative to the wall of the envelope.

Shielded Getter Support On Rotor-Supported Antenna

US Patent:
4061945, Dec 6, 1977
Filed:
Dec 3, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/747363
Inventors:
David Benda - Geneva NY
Charles A. Davis - Auburn NY
Assignee:
GTE Sylvania Incorporated - Stamford CT
International Classification:
H01J 2994
H01K 152
US Classification:
313481
Abstract:
The invention provides an improvement in the means for supporting a container of effusive material located on the terminal end of an antenna-type positioning member for use in a cathode ray tube. The supporting structure is comprised of a rotatable member accommodated on axle means affixed to the positioning member at a region rearward from the forward edge of the material container. An augmentive fender-like protective component is associated with the rotatable member to shield that member from effusive material and to prevent any accumulated electric charge thereon from interfering with the scanning of the electron beam in the tube.

Cathode Ray Tube Fabricating Process

US Patent:
4073558, Feb 14, 1978
Filed:
Apr 25, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/790499
Inventors:
David Benda - Geneva NY
Franklin G. Reigel - Waterloo NY
Assignee:
GTE Sylvania Incorporated - Stamford CT
International Classification:
H01J 9385
US Classification:
316 18
Abstract:
A process for fabricating cathode ray tubes having an envelope which contains an electron gun assembly and unwanted water vapor includes the steps of loading the cathode ray tube onto an exhaust machine, heating the cathode ray tube to an internal temperature greater than the condensation temperature of the water vapor during evacuation, and evacuating the water vapor from the envelope.
