NAIS Fellowship for Aspiring School Heads
National Association of Independent Schools
The fellowship is a one-year professional development program for individuals at NAIS member schools who wish to become heads of independent schools. Through programming, mentorship, and a school project, fellows develop their own leadership styles, learn key issues and skills, and develop a strong network. The components of the fellowship include: - programming and guided networking at two NAIS Annual Conferences (February); - attendance at the Aspiring Heads Institute (summer), which includes extensive leadership assessment work; - engagement in a mentor relationship throughout the year; and - work on an individualized school project throughout the year.

Ford Educational Leadership initiative matching grants of $250,000 which support programs that are generative; be transformational; be replicable; include partnerships; and address the question, “What is the public purpose of private education?” At Windward, the grant provided additional support to develop and refine the Windward Studio Physics First program and to expand the active learning model to chemistry and biology, programs which align with emerging best practices at the college level.
