Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the treatment of non-proliferative cystic disease of the breast. More particularly, the present invention relates generally to the treatment of non-proliferative cystic disease of the breast in BRCA1 mutant carriers. Accordingly, the invention relates to the use and application of compounds or agents, including somatostatin analogs, that inhibit insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) or insulin-like growth factor I receptor signaling for the treatment of non-proliferative cystic disease of the breast. The invention further relates to the use and application of these compounds or agents for the treatment of non-proliferative cystic disease of the breast in BRCA1 patients.
