Filed:
Jan 12, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/229145
Inventors:
Carol Salas - Kentwood MI

Abstract:
A method and system for capturing support materials in carrier frames in the manufacture of seat components for chairs including moving the support material to an openable mold press forming a mold cavity for the carrier frame when the mold press is closed, shaping the support material, and molding the carrier frame to capture the shaped material in the carrier frame. In one embodiment, the support material is stretched as it is moved to the mold press, and/or in the mold press before molding the carrier frame. Excess support material is removable from an outer side portion of the carrier frame after molding the carrier frame and before discharging the carrier frame and support material captured thereby from the mold press.

Tamper-Evident Thermoformed Package And Tab Arrangement

US Patent:
8640914, Feb 4, 2014
Filed:
Apr 10, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/442910
Inventors:
Marc R. Meyer - Grand Rapids MI, US
Gordon L. Beach - Muskegon MI, US
Andrew J. Blackmore - Belmont MI, US
David A. Korhorn - Rockford MI, US
Assignee:
Display Pack, Inc. - Grand Rapids MI
International Classification:
B65D 17/347
US Classification:
220791, 220790, 220780, 220270, 206508
Abstract:
A tamper-evident tab construction for a thermoformed package. In one embodiment, the package includes top and bottom parts with overlapping tabs. The top and bottom parts may include locking tabs that interlock with one another and provide a structure for holding the package while it is being opened. The top part may also include a pull tab located proximate the locking tabs. The pull tab is configured to provide a structure for pulling the top part away from the bottom part to open the package. The pull tab may be joined to the top part by a small land of material that is configured to deform when the package is opened. As a result, the pull tab may remain at an angle after opening to provide a visual indication that the package may have been opened or tampered with.

Tamper-Evident Tab Thermoformed Packaging

US Patent:
2016010, Apr 14, 2016
Filed:
Mar 27, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/670542
Inventors:
- Grand Rapids MI, US
David A. Korhorn - Rockford MI, US
Marc R. Meyer - Grand Rapids MI, US
Gordon L. Beach - Muskegon MI, US
Victor D. Hansen - Rockford MI, US
International Classification:
B65D 43/02
B65D 17/00
Abstract:
A package having a lid seated on a base where the edge of the seated lid is generally inaccessible due to contours in the base, and where the edge is made accessible by a tamper-evident tab arrangement. The base includes a tamper-evident tab and a fixed tab disposed on a flange extending about the base. The tamper-evident tab is joined to the base on opposite ends by a breakable land and a permanent land. The tamper-evident tab is movable by breaking the tamper-evident tab free from the base on one end by breaking the breakable land and bending the tamper-evident tab out of the way about the permanent land to provide access to the peripheral edge of the lid. The tamper-evident tab may include an extension adjacent to the breakable land and the fixed tab may include an extension adjacent to the tamper-evident tab extension opposite the breakable land.

Reclosable Display Package

US Patent:
2014019, Jul 17, 2014
Filed:
Jan 11, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/739360
Inventors:
- Grand Rapids MI, US
George E. Raimer - Saranac MI, US
Jared P. Lorenson - Rockford MI, US
Elliott R. Eckert - Grand Rapids MI, US
Michael J. Cramblet - Muskegon MI, US
David A. Korhorn - Rockford MI, US
Assignee:
DISPLAY PACK, INC. - Grand Rapids MI
International Classification:
B65D 77/22
US Classification:
206468
Abstract:
A reclosable composite package for packaging an article is provided with a tray, a panel and a sliding cover. The tray and cover define a cavity for displaying or packing an article for sale. The tray and panel are configured to define a channel to slidably receive the cover. The tray may have a peripheral flange that includes a raised rail. The panel may be secured with respect to the tray flange and may engage at least a portion of the rail. Interaction between the rail and the panel during manufacture or assembly of the package may create a space between the tray and the panel to form the channel. The cover may be inserted within the channel formed by the tray flange, rail and panel. In use, the cover may slide within the channel to selectively open and close the package. The package may include one or more catches, stops or snap lock features to further secure and stabilize the package.
