Illuminated Syringe Tip And Handpiece Assembly

US Patent:
5868563, Feb 9, 1999
Filed:
Dec 12, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/989595
Inventors:
Warren Davis - Las Vegas NV
David Wasserman - Las Vegas NV
Robert Dybus - Boulder City NV
International Classification:
A61C 300
US Classification:
433 29
Abstract:
A dental syringe tip handpiece assembly includes a clear, plastic syringe tip mounted in an adaptor for connection to the handpiece. On the interior of the adaptor at a location adjacent the end of the syringe tip, a source of light, preferably a fiberoptic ringlight, is provided. Light from the light source will be transmitted down the length of the syringe tip and emitted from the end thereof. By positioning the end of the syringe tip in the patient's oral cavity, the dentist can provide illumination in the oral cavity so that various dental functions can be more easily and accurately performed. The source of light may also be a light bulb positioned at the rear of the adaptor. The adaptor is made from clear, or at least translucent, material so that light from the light bulb will be transmitted through the adaptor and then into the syringe tip. A special handpiece body formed of a handpiece inner unit and an outer cover is provided to receive the adaptor and syringe tip assembly. The air, water and fiberoptic lines are positioned inside the handpiece body.

Illuminated Suction Tool With A Disposable Tip

US Patent:
5882194, Mar 16, 1999
Filed:
Jan 8, 1998
Appl. No.:
/002073
Inventors:
Warren Davis - Las Vegas NV
David Wasserman - Las Vegas NV
Robert Dybus - Boulder City NV
International Classification:
A61C 100
A61C 1706
US Classification:
433 29
Abstract:
A dental suction tool has a disposable sanitary plastic suction tip to prevent cross contamination from one patient to the next. Additionally, a light source such as a fiberoptic bundle with or without a ring light is provided on the interior of the dental suction tool to provide light to the end of the plastic disposable suction tip. Illumination from the ring light or directly from the fiberoptic bundle is transmitted along the length of the suction tip and is emitted from the end thereof to illuminate the oral cavity during dental procedures.

Dental Syringe Tip And Adaptor

US Patent:
5342195, Aug 30, 1994
Filed:
Jan 13, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/004098
Inventors:
Warren Davis - Rosemead CA
David Wasserman - Las Vegas NV
Richard R. Mathews - Huntington Park CA
International Classification:
A61G 1702
A61C 110
A61C 112
US Classification:
433 80
Abstract:
Various adaptors are used for securing a replaceable syringe tip in operative relationship to a handpiece body. The syringe tip is mounted on a tapered male connector set in the hollow interior of the adaptor. O ring seals and a metal flange member are used to prevent the leakage of air or water passing from the handpiece into the interior of the adaptor and then into the syringe tip. A captivated thumb nut is utilized to prevent the thumb nut from accidently disengaging completely from the adaptor. When the thumb nut is loosened to replace a syringe tip, the thumb nut will remain captivated on the adapter, only loosening enough to allow removal and insertion of a syringe tip.

Illuminated Suction Tool With Disposable Tip

US Patent:
5882197, Mar 16, 1999
Filed:
Jul 31, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/903757
Inventors:
Warren Davis - Las Vegas NV
David Wasserman - Las Vegas NV
Robert Dybus - Boulder City NV
International Classification:
A61C 1700
US Classification:

Syringe Tip Locking Assembly

US Patent:
5306146, Apr 26, 1994
Filed:
Feb 16, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/017770
Inventors:
Warren Davis - Las Vegas NV
David Wasserman - Las Vegas NV
Richard R. Matthews - Huntington Park CA
International Classification:
A61C 1702
A61C 1700
US Classification:
433 80
Abstract:
A syringe tip is locked into a three-way dental handpiece body by means of a syringe tip locking assembly that screws into a threaded receiver in the body of the handpiece. The locking assembly comprises an adaptor that has a central tapered male member that receives one end of the syringe tip, a gripping member that fits over the tapered male member and a locking cap that screws onto the adaptor and over the gripping member. The gripping member includes a plurality of gripping fingers that engage the syringe tip and the locking cap effects the tightening of the gripping fingers into the syringe tip. The locking assembly both applies a positive gripping action to the syringe tip and also pulls the syringe tip onto the tapered male member to securely hold the syringe tip in the adaptor during use by the dentist. The gripping member is captivated inside the locking cap to prevent inadvertent separation of the pieces.
