Pallet Defect Inspection Systems And Methods

US Patent:
2006024, Nov 9, 2006
Filed:
May 4, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/121610
Inventors:
James Hardman - West Chester OH, US
Charles Crawford - Harlem GA, US
Donald Hershey - Cincinnati OH, US
International Classification:
B07C 9/00
US Classification:
209699000
Abstract:
Systems and methods for detecting a defect in a pallet comprising a load applicator operable to apply a predetermined load force to a top or bottom surface of a pallet, and a sensor operable to detect a portion of a surface opposite the top or bottom surface to which a load force is applied, extending downwardly or upwardly, respectively, more than a predetermined distance.

High Pressure Manually-Actuated Spray Pump

US Patent:
6050457, Apr 18, 2000
Filed:
Dec 6, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/568211
Inventors:
Christopher B. Arnold - Cincinnati OH
Mark T. Lund - West Chester OH
Donald E. Hershey - Cincinnati OH
Assignee:
The Procter & Gamble Company - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
G01F 1106
US Classification:
2223219
Abstract:
A high pressure manually-actuated spray pump for dispensing a fluid. The spray pump comprises a nozzle through which the fluid is dispensed and a pumping engine. The pumping engine comprises a reservoir, a closure, and a plunger. The reservoir has an open top and a closed bottom and an interior surface. The plunger has an outer surface and a longitudinal passageway extending therethrough. The plunger further having an outlet valve mounted therein and an upper end and a lower end. The lower end being slidably disposed within the open top of the reservoir forming an interior chamber within the reservoir. The interior chamber has an annular chamber and a main chamber. The annular chamber being in fluid communication with the main chamber. The annular chamber is formed by the outer surface of the plunger being spaced away from the interior surface of the reservoir such that there is no frictional contact between the outer surface and the interior surface. The closure being attached to the open top of the reservoir allowing the plunger to slidably extend through the closure such that the interior chamber is sealingly closed.

Manually-Actuated High Pressure Spray Pump

Concentrated Reduced Dosage Spray Pump Delivery System

US Patent:
6158617, Dec 12, 2000
Filed:
Oct 30, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/741246
Inventors:
Donald E. Hershey - Cincinnati OH
Mark T. Lund - West Chester OH
Marjorie M. Peffly - Cincinnati OH
Assignee:
The Procter & Gamble Company - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
G01F 1100
US Classification:
222 1
Abstract:
A concentrated reduced dosage spray pump delivery system for dispensing fluids containing actives and volatile organic compounds with reduced emissions of the volatile organic compounds is disclosed. The system includes a housing storing a concentrated fluid containing volatile organic compounds and an effective component, wherein the effective component is concentrated within the fluid. The system also includes a spray pump in fluid communication with the concentrated fluid containing the volatile organic compounds such that the spray pump dispenses the concentrated fluid at a reduced dosage per pump stroke. The combination of the concentrated fluid containing volatile organic compounds and the reduced dosage per pump stroke reduces the emission of volatile organic compounds, while the quantity of actives applied per square area of application surface substantially remains the same.

Dispensing Pump

US Patent:
5829640, Nov 3, 1998
Filed:
Sep 6, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/711700
Inventors:
Donald E. Hershey - Cincinnati OH
Eric R. Bartsch - Cincinnati OH
Assignee:
The Procter & Gamble Company - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
B67D 542
US Classification:
22215313
Abstract:
A dispensing pump including an actuator coupled to a resilient bellow, wherein the bellow is in fluid communication with the contents of a container via an inlet valve. Expansion of the bellow, caused by the resilience of the bellow, creates negative pressure causing the contents of the container to be drawn through the inlet valve and into a space defined by the bellow. The dispensing pump also includes an outlet valve in fluid communication with the bellow such that compression of the bellow caused by the application of pressure to the actuator creates positive pressure within the bellow causing the contents held within the bellow to be forced through the outlet valve and out of an outlet of the dispensing pump.
