Cosmetic Sampler

US Patent:
6062235, May 16, 2000
Filed:
Aug 30, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/386541
Inventors:
Douglas J. Renna - Valley Stream NY
Assignee:
Cosmetic Sampling Technologies, Inc. - Hauppauge NY
International Classification:
A45D 4026
A45D 4024
B65D 7500
US Classification:
132320
Abstract:
A cosmetic sampler comprising an elongated base formed from a sheet with a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion has an applicator portion and a discard portion separable from the applicator portion. The discard portion has a first hinge therethrough at a midpoint thereof and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the base and a second hinge therethrough where the top portion connects to the bottom portion. There is a cosmetic product disposed on a part of the applicator portion and a transparent protective layer disposed over the top portion of the base. An adhesive attaches the protective layer to the base, covering the discard layer above the first hinge and only partially covering the discard layer between the first hinge and the second hinge, so that the protective layer is easily lifted off of the base below the first hinge. In use, the protective layer is lifted off of the base, causing the discard portion to separate from the applicator portion and bend at the hinges to reveal the cosmetic product for application. The discard portion can then be torn off of the sampler, taking the protective layer with it and leaving a stiff, elongated applicator with the cosmetic disposed thereon.

Compact Disc Storage Case

US Patent:
5772022, Jun 30, 1998
Filed:
May 16, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/857975
Inventors:
Douglas J. Renna - Valley Stream NY
International Classification:
B65D 8557
US Classification:
206312
Abstract:
A disc storage case formed from a single sheet, comprising a center panel having an inside surface and an outside surface and two disc support sections, with each disc support section being integrally formed with an opposite edge of the center panel. Each disc support section forms a side wall, a top sloped wall and a bottom flap. The side wall is connected to the center panel by a first scored hinge and to the top sloped wall by a second scored hinge. The top sloped wall is connected to the bottom flap by a third scored hinge. The top sloped wall has an arcuately-shaped slit cut therethrough. Each end of the slit terminates at the third scored hinge, such that upon folding the disc support sections along the hinges, the slit creates an arcuate opening for insertion of a disc. The case is assembled by folding each side wall up from the center panel and each top slanted wall toward the center of the inside surface of the center panel, and folding each of the bottom flaps under the top slanted walls to rest against the inside surface of the center panel.

Package Stuffing

US Patent:
5308677, May 3, 1994
Filed:
Sep 4, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/940549
Inventors:
Douglas Renna - Valley Stream NY
International Classification:
B32B 100
US Classification:
428174
Abstract:
Geometrically shaped bodies comprising a flat base having arcuate or geometrically shaped cross section from one face of which extend projections having a reverse arc or shape to that of the base below each of which is a cutout or slot.

Cylindrical Package Stuffing Material

US Patent:
5328732, Jul 12, 1994
Filed:
Mar 12, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/030776
Inventors:
Douglas J. Renna - Valley Stream NY
International Classification:
B29D 2200
US Classification:
428 342
Abstract:
Package stuffing material is formed by rolling strips of relatively rigid paper stock to cylindrical bodies. The strip is rolled so that the outer longitudinal edge is adhered to the outer surface of the cylinder while the inner end hangs free. The inner end extends between a 90. degree. to 180. degree. arc along the inner wall and when the cylindrical is pressed its edge engages the wall substantially limiting the degree of distortion.

Method Of Forming Paperboard Containers

US Patent:
5096650, Mar 17, 1992
Filed:

Inventors:
Douglas J. Renna - Valley Stream NY
Assignee:
Network Graphics, Inc. - Valley Stream NY
International Classification:
B29C 4302
US Classification:

Abstract:
A paperboard, containing a major portion of cellulose and a minor portion of an uncured biodegradable latex polymer, is molded into a shaped packaging form.

Cosmetic Sampler

US Patent:
5918608, Jul 6, 1999
Filed:
May 5, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/072547
Inventors:
Douglas J. Renna - Valley Stream NY
Assignee:
Cosmetic Sampling Technologies, Inc. - Hauppauge NY
International Classification:
A45D 4026
B65D 7500
G09F 1500
US Classification:
132320
Abstract:
A cosmetic sampler comprising three panels connected to each other via scored hinges. There is an application tip cut into the second or middle panel that extends upward from a first end panel when the middle and first end panels are folded against each other. A single dose of a cosmetic product is deposited on the tip. A third end panel extends from the middle panel and has a hole cut therethrough. The hole directly overlies the tip when the third end panel is folded over the other two panels so the cosmetic is visible through the hole. The sampler is maintained in a folded state where the third end panel overlies the other two panels until the sampler is used. At this point, the sampler is opened and the first end panel is folded back from the middle panel to allow the user to apply cosmetic from the tip directly to their skin.
