I am a baby boomer born at an air force base called Namoa , Alberta Canada. Only lived there 6 months (my first). Since my father was a career air force officer I next lived in Comox, Vancouver Island B.C. until age 4.....then from the age of four to nine lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., USA while my Dad was stationed at the NORAD base (partly carved jnto the Rocky Mountains). Then in 1963 my Dad was forced to retire from active service at only age 44. He had already completed 25 years active service having entered the war in 1939 ....the year he turned 20. Having promised my mother (whom he married in 1946, while stationed in Jericho after the war) that he would take her back to her homectown of Vancouver - He kept his word by moving here in 1963 (I was 9 yrs old). He launched an equally successful second career.....retiring at age 66 as the registrar of Burnaby Vocational School (now part if the B.C. Institute if Technology). I have consequently lived in Vancouver 50 years this June 2013.....I am currently pursuing writing, art (various media) and photography. I am currently working on 3 war biographies of 3 warriors from my own family. One is on my father Donald Angus Evans (1919-2006)...born Oxbow , Saskatchewan. Prairie Boy turned Warrior of the air ....bomber command...WW 2. Navigator Officer. The other 2 biographies are on Sidney Towle (stretcher bearer) (my great uncle) killed and buried in France 1917 , and Byron Logan (pilot) (my great great uncle) killed and buried in France in 1915. My great uncles had NOT married and had NO children. I only hope they had some good times with some French women before they were blown away as young men only in their 20's!
