US Patent:
3977137, Aug 31, 1976
Filed:
Jun 30, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/591784
Inventors:
Francis Joseph Patry - Lewiston ME
Assignee:
Johns-Manville Corporation - Denver CO
International Classification:
I04D 1314
US Classification:
52 60
Abstract:
A roof vent support arrangement for use in a roof structure including a roof deck and a built-up roof thereon and provided for supporting a vent pipe extending beyond the roof structure through an opening therein is disclosed herein. This arrangement includes a roof deck connector connected to the top surface of the roof deck directly over the vent opening in the deck and around the vent and a vertically adjustable tubular vent connector positioned over the built-up roof and around both the deck connector and vent. The arrangement also includes resilient members fixedly connected with the vent connector for allowing the deck connector to be readily inserted therein and, once inserted, for preventing its separation from the vent connector.

Roof Structure Including A One-Way Vapor Vent

US Patent:
3984947, Oct 12, 1976
Filed:
Jul 31, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/600685
Inventors:
Francis Joseph Patry - Lewiston ME
Assignee:
Johns-Manville Corporation - Denver CO
International Classification:
E04B 700
US Classification:
52 1
Abstract:
An overall roof arrangement is disclosed herein and includes a roof structure comprised of a roof deck, roof insulation disposed over the deck and a built-up roof disposed over the insulation. This overall arrangement also includes a one-way vent through which moisture within the roof structure and subsequently converted to vapor passes to the ambient surroundings. However, this vent prevents moisture vapor in the ambient surroundings from being drawn back into the roof structure through the vent.

Roof Structure And Method Of Making The Same

US Patent:
4235058, Nov 25, 1980
Filed:
Oct 19, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/952890
Inventors:
Francis J. Patry - Lewiston ME
Assignee:
Johns-Manville Corporation - Denver CO
International Classification:
E04B 500
US Classification:
52408
Abstract:
An improvement in a roof structure including a built-up roof located over and above a roof deck and particulate material located over and above the built-up roof and method of preparing such a structure is disclosed herein. This improvement comprises the utilization of a relatively inexpensive, preferably flexible non-insulating sheet material which is located over and against the top surface of the built-up roof between the built-up roof and particulate ballast material. The primary purpose of this sheet material is to protect the built-up roof from the harmful effects of the sun and abrasion from the particulate ballast material. The primary purpose of the particulate material is to hold down the sheet material. In one embodiment, this non-insulating sheet material is substantially completely unattached to the built-up roof and in another embodiment it is attached to the built-up roof, at most, only at discrete spotted locations.

US Patent:
4003175, Jan 18, 1977
Filed:
Jun 30, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/591585
Inventors:
Francis Joseph Patry - Lewiston ME
Assignee:
Johns-Manville Corporation - Denver CO
International Classification:
E04B 138
US Classification:
52506
Abstract:
A roof arrangement including a metal roof deck and roof insulation sheet material positioned on top of the deck is disclosed herein. The roof insulation sheet material is fastened to the deck utilizing a roof fastener which is also disclosed herein. This fastener includes a longitudinal body with a pointed metal tip affixed to one end of the body. The longitudinal body has a circumferential outer portion located adjacent to and extending longitudinally back from the metal tip. This circumferential outer portion has a maximum outer cross-section greater than that of the metal tip and is constructed of a non-metallic material having a lower hardness than that of the tip.
