Skills:
(1) I have a performed a wide variety of technically complex assays for the identification and speciation of enteric organisms. (a) Assays consist: E. coli O157:H7 serotyping; Shigella serotyping; Yersinia serotyping; Vibrio cholerae serotyping. (b) Use of conventional biochemical assays for identification and speciation. (c) Cell culture assay to detect bacterial toxin including STEC and Cholera Toxin. (d) Cell culture assay to determine adhesive and invasive capabilities of pathogens (e) Polymerase Chain Reaction assay for toxin detection. (f) Real-Time PCR assay for Malaria speciation (2) Malaria identification by microscopy and development of Real-Time PCR for Malaria speciation. Stool parasites identification. (3) Lead bench microbiologist in Salmonella serotyping. (4) Performed extensive QC and participating in proficiency testing for all assays listed above. Including maintenance of QC strains. (5) I perform QC evaluation on all new Salmonella reagents produced by our Biologics unit. (6) I also worked extensively with our Biologics unit to develop antisera ant can enhance our serotyping ability. (7) Performed QC check on all new lots of entero-bacteriology laboratory media (media plate like Salmonella-Shigella and slant like Citrate) before using them for routine testing. (8) Performed a variety of serological assays when I worked in our serology unit. (a) Syphilis serology: VDRL; RPR; TP-PA; FTA-ABS; DFA. (b) Special serology: Complement fixation; Febrile Agglutination; Legionella and Bartonella serology. (c) Performed extensive QC and participating in proficiency testing for all assays listed above. (9) Used to work with Laboratory Information System.
