Filed:
Apr 21, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/295848
Inventors:
Thomas McGee - Orangeburg NY
Kenneth Leo Purzycki - Lake Parsippany NJ
Assignee:
Givauden Roure (International) SA - Geneva
International Classification:
G01N 124
US Classification:
73 2334, 7386321, 7386323
Abstract:
Aroma chemicals emitted from an aroma-emitting source are obtained by an apparatus and process for obtaining the chemicals. The apparatus includes the use of one or more capillary tubes which have on their interior surfaces an absorbent material, a suction device for drawing the aroma chemicals through the capillary tubes, and a connecting tube which connects the capillary tubes and the suction device. A system for collecting and analyzing the aroma chemicals emitted from an aroma-emitting source is disclosed which has one or more capillary tubes, a suction device, a connecting tube, a thermal desorber which desorbs the aroma chemicals directly from the capillary tubes, a cryogenic focusing device, and a gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry instrument.

Apparatus

US Patent:
2007029, Dec 20, 2007
Filed:
Nov 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/596046
Inventors:
Thomas McGee - Nyack NY,
Colin Brown - Berkshire,
Assignee:
GIVAUDAN SA - Vernier
International Classification:
A61L 9/04
US Classification:
239057000, 239058000
Abstract:
An apparatus for the dissemination of volatile liquid into an atmosphere comprises a reservoir containing the liquid, and a porous evaporative member that extends from the liquid into the atmosphere, the reservoir being directly open to the atmosphere only by a pressure equalisation vent, which vent is equipped with closing means that obstructs the vent to an increasing degree with increasing atmosphere temperature, optionally closing it completely. The apparatus thus reduces considerably the excessive loss of fragrance encountered in atmospheres that can get very hot, for example, automobile interiors.

Volatile Liquid Disseminator

US Patent:
2008000, Jan 3, 2008
Filed:
Feb 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
10/597533
Inventors:
Thomas McGee - Nyack NY,
Colin Brown - Berkshire,
Guy Naish - Oxfordshire,
Assignee:
GIVAUDAN SA - Vernier
International Classification:
A61L 9/04
A61L 9/12
B01D 53/86
US Classification:
422004000, 422122000
Abstract:
An apparatus adapted to both purify an air flow passing through it and disseminate a volatile liquid therein, comprising a source of volatile liquid, a disseminating element for the liquid and a catalyst adapted to remove pollutants at relatively low temperatures, the aforementioned elements being arranged such that the air flow encounters first the catalyst and then the disseminating element. The apparatus is useful, for example, for purifying air and adding fragrance thereto.

Antifungal Compositions

US Patent:
2008002, Jan 24, 2008
Filed:
Feb 4, 2005
Appl. No.:
10/597542
Inventors:
Thomas McGee - Nyack NY,
Andreas Natsch - Uetikon,
Assignee:
GIVAUDAN SA - Vernier
International Classification:
A01N 31/02
A01N 31/04
A01N 35/02
A01N 35/04
A01N 43/08
A01N 43/30
A01P 3/00
US Classification:
514462000, 514464000, 514473000, 514693000, 514699000, 514703000, 514730000, 514733000, 514739000
Abstract:
A method of simultaneously preventing the growth of fungi on substrates, particularly those exposed to an atmosphere, and imparting thereto a desired odour, by applying thereto a fragrance whose fragrant properties are derived mainly from the presence in the fragrance of at least two fragrance components selected from the group consisting of certain selected cyclic aldehydes, cyclic alcohols, branched or unbranched linear aldehydes, branched or unbranched linear alcohols, phenols and lactones. The method is particularly effective in supplying the necessary fragrance and antifungal properties in the vapour phase, thus avoiding any potentially harmful or damaging contact with liquid preparations.
