Electrochemical Transducer And A Method For Fabricating The Same

US Patent:
6576103, Jun 10, 2003
Filed:
Aug 10, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/927679
Inventors:
Igor A. Abramovich - Simsbury CT
Alexei V. Kharlamov - Weatogue CT
Assignee:
PMD Scientific, Inc. - Bloomfield CT
International Classification:
G01P 100
US Classification:
204412, 204252, 295921
Abstract:
A design and method for fabricating an electrochemical transducer including two housing plates, each of the housing plates being constructed of a polymer material and wherein each of the housing plates include an inner side, an outer side and a plurality of channels through the housing plates so as to communicate the inner side with the outer side, two anode electrodes, the anode electrodes disposed so as to be sandwiched between the housing plates, two cathode electrodes, the cathode electrodes disposed so as to be sandwiched between the anode electrodes and three porous insulating layers, the insulating layers being constructed of a polymer mesh and wherein each of the insulating layers is disposed so as to separate each of the anode electrodes from the cathode electrodes and each of the cathode electrodes from each other, while permitting the flow of an electrolyte between them.

Detection Of Damped Sine Waves In A Magnestostrictive Displacement Transducer Using Pretrigger And Detection Thresholds Of Opposite Polarity

US Patent:
5212444, May 18, 1993
Filed:
Jul 31, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/738613
Inventors:
Igor A. Abramovich - Simsbury CT
Neil McKenna - Simsbury CT
Assignee:
Magnetek Controls - Clawson MI
International Classification:
G01B 714
G01F 2330
US Classification:
32420713
Abstract:
A damped sine wave detector for detecting the response of a magnetostrictive displacement transducer. A pretrigger comparator compares the signal to a predetermined negative threshold. A signal comparator compares the input signal to a predetermined positive threshold. The pretrigger comparator turns on a pretrigger flip-flop and starts a delay timer when the input signal falls below the predetermined negative threshold. The pretrigger flip-flop supplies the data input of a signal flip-flop. The signal flip-flop is clocked by the signal comparator when the input signal is above the predetermined positive threshold. The signal flip-flop turns on if clocked and the pretrigger flip-flop is on. The detector includes two timers for resetting the flip-flops. An inhibit timer resets both flip-flops upon expiration of an inhibit time longer than the maximum expected duration of the damped sine wave signal.

Method Of Transmitting Measured Temperature And Position Parameters From A Transducer

US Patent:
5253521, Oct 19, 1993
Filed:
Oct 26, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/966364
Inventors:
Igor Abramovich - Simsbury CT
Neil McKenna - Simsbury CT
Assignee:
Magnetek Inc. - Clawson MI
International Classification:
G01F 2300
G01R 3318
US Classification:
73306
Abstract:
A magnetostrictive liquid level transducer equipped with a number of temperature sensitive resistors is supplied with low level power from a remote station and charges a capacitor to store power for interrogation of the level transducer. The transducer is interrogated periodically for level measurements and the capacitor is recharged between interrogations. During the recharging periods, temperature measurements are made. Thus the level and temperature related data is measured and transmitted alternately. Each measurement results in a pair of pulses having a spacing corresponding to the measured value. The transmission message comprises a plurality of frames or time periods. The first frame is blank and is used for synchronizing the receiving device with the message frames. The subsequent frames have the level and temperature related data interleaved in the message and are easily sorted by the receiving device at the remote station. The data pulses are sent on the power transmission conductors.
