High Speed Beer Dispensing Method

US Patent:
4094445, Jun 13, 1978
Filed:
Mar 29, 1973
Appl. No.:
5/346186
Inventors:
James Bevan - Hatboro PA
Assignee:
Elliott-Lewis Corporation - Philadelphia PA
International Classification:
B67D 104
B65D 8314
US Classification:
222 1
Abstract:
A method is provided for dispensing beer rapidly into a series of containers for mass distribution to consumers at public gatherings such as stadiums, race tracks, etc. The beer is contained in kegs and is supplied to a multi-tap dispenser through a refrigerated supply line. A coolant is circulated around the beer in the supply line and in the dispenser for cooling the beer. The temperature of the beer is maintained sufficiently close to its freezing temperature as to permit pouring from the taps while preventing excessive foam from being generated in the containers as the beer is poured. Preferably, the beer is maintained at less than 34. degree. F and preferably within about 1/2. degree. -2. degree. F of its freezing temperature which is approximately 28. degree. F for most beer.

Material Press Having Pivotally Connected Crushing Lid And A Reducible Height For Transit

US Patent:
5782176, Jul 21, 1998
Filed:
Jul 23, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/687118
Inventors:
James A. Bevan - Ottumwa IA
Assignee:
Al-jon, Inc. - Ottumwa IA
International Classification:
B30B 932
US Classification:
100100
Abstract:
A material press includes a base portion defining a generally horizontal bed upon which a vehicle (or other material) to be crushed may be placed. Material placed on the bed is crushed by a lid portion which is slidably movable relative to the base along a pair of vertical guide mechanisms by a pair of hydraulic cylinders. Each vertical guide mechanism includes two guide posts. Guide sleeves which slide along the posts are pivotally connected to the four corners of the lid by pivot linkages. The casings of the hydraulic cylinders are movable between a raised position for performing crushing operations and a lowered position to reduce the overall height of the crusher during transportation between job sites. A locking mechanism is provided for quickly locking and unlocking the cylinder casings in their raised position. The base of the material press may be form of a semi-trailer to permit the press to readily be moved between job sites.

Side-Loading Fork Lift Vehicle

US Patent:
5112183, May 12, 1992
Filed:
Feb 25, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/660777
Inventors:
Howard G. Nusbaum - Stamford CT
James A. Bevan - Ottumwa IA
International Classification:
B62D 100
B66F 900
US Classification:
414544
Abstract:
A side-loading all-terrain fork lift vehicle for handling heavy loads which are long relative to their width, e. g. , junked cars, in a storage facility having multi-level racks separated by narrow aisles and with restricted vertical clearance between levels. The vehicle body has an elongated load-carrying frame section which includes a longitudinal torsion beam at one side, two transverse torsion beams at its front and rear ends, two transverse medial beams defining a guideway for the mast-carrying trolley, and cross-brace beams between the torsion beams and the medial beams. The front and rear wheel axles are supported by respective rocker frames pivotally mounted on the associated transverse torsion beams and adapted to be angularly moved up and down by respective hydraulic piston and cylinder units which enable the frame section to be lowered so as to rest on the ground during on-loading and off-loading for maximum stability of the vehicle. Optionally, the fork arms can be extended a bit further after the trolley has reached the limit of its outward movement along its guideway, and they can also be shifted slightly to either side if they are not properly aligned with a compartment in the rack.
