Awards:
First Place in General News Reporting
New England Newspaper and Press Association
I was awarded first place in the category of General News Reporting for my breaking news story disclosing the location of a major crime scene in a murder investigation originating out of Berwick, Maine. I reported over the phone from the scene of the active investigation.
This award also recognized my followup reporting on this incident. Link to the story is below:

First Place for Environmental Reporting
New England Newspaper and Press Association
I was awarded first place for a series on new energy technology in New Hampshire, where and how it's being used, how it's helping and what the future holds here for these power sources. I collaborated with another reporter to complete this series; he wrote about wind and tidal power while I took on geothermal heating and solar power.

Second Place for Human Interest Feature Story
New England Newspaper and Press Association
Received second place for my human interest piece telling a woman's story of being the first female to be awarded a Purple Heart for her service during the beginning of the Vietnam War. I spent four hours speaking with the Dover resident about her experiences and my story was noticed by a veteran's magazine called All Hands that chose to showcase her story as well.

Third Place for Local Personality Profile
New England Newspaper and Press Association
Placed third in this category for an interview with a veteran who lost both legs after a roadside bomb went off under his vehicle while serving in Afghanistan. The struggle he endured to regain his life following this incident is ongoing, but this story sought to give him a voice for others in his situation, and to let others know how they can help.
