Overload Relay Reset Assembly

US Patent:
4051340, Sep 27, 1977
Filed:
Aug 26, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/717964
Inventors:
Jerome C. Wolski - Downers Grove IL
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corporation - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
H01H 300
US Classification:
200329
Abstract:
A reset assembly for an overload relay adapted to function in conjunction with a contactor for controlling an electric load such as a three-phase motor. The overload reset assembly is characterized by a reset rod and an extension rod detachably mounted on the reset rod which rods comprise detachable interlocking means for assembly and disassembly whereby the extension rod extends from the reset rod to the access door of a metal enclosure containing the overload relay.

Insulating Shutter Mechanism For Bus Bars

US Patent:
4038585, Jul 26, 1977
Filed:
Sep 11, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/612524
Inventors:
Jerome C. Wolski - Downers Grove IL
Neal E. Rowe - Oak Forest IL
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corporation - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
H02B 114
US Classification:
361334
Abstract:
A control center characterized by an upright cabinet in which a plurality of vertical bus bars are disposed which bus bars are encased in a pair of planar molded barriers of insulative material which are in tight surface-to-surface contact with the bus bars for extracting heat therefrom. Openings are provided in the barriers to enable access to the bus bars at spaced intervals corresponding to the spacing between contacts on circuit interrupters located within the cabinet. Shutter means for closing the openings when the circuit interrupter is withdrawn from the cabinet are provided and the shutter means comprises a level projecting into the path of travel of the circuit interrupter for moving the shutter means to an open position when the circuit interrupter is inserted into the cabinet.

Vertical Bus Bars For Motor Control Center

US Patent:
4180846, Dec 25, 1979
Filed:
May 9, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/794910
Inventors:
John R. Wilson - Darien IL
Jerome C. Wolski - Downers Grove IL
Assignee:
Westinghouse Electric Corp. - Pittsburgh PA
International Classification:
H02B 104
US Classification:
361357
Abstract:
Vertical bus bars for motor control centers characterized by elongated metal conductors having a Zee-shape cross section for use in an upright cabinet type of motor control center in which electrical connection is made by plugging apparatus onto the bus bars at any point in a vertical plane, either from the front or the rear of the bus bars without impediment. Bolted connections may also be made from either the front or the rear of the bus bars. Finally, the Zee-shaped bus bars are inherently strong enough to withstand electromechanical forces that occur with ground faults of the order of 100,000 rms symmetrical amperes.
