Priority Service Scheme

US Patent:
8085783, Dec 27, 2011
Filed:
Jun 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/481820
Inventors:
Jingyi Zhou - South River NJ, US
Patricia R. Chang - San Ramon CA, US
Maria G. Lam - Irvine CA, US
Assignee:
Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc. - Basking Ridge NJ
International Classification:
H04L 12/56
US Classification:
37039521, 370462
Abstract:
A method includes indicating a state associated with a priority service subscription indicator, indicating a state associated with a priority service activation indicator and receiving an input request for invoking a priority service for a priority communication. The method further includes determining whether a user of a user device is a subscriber of the priority service based on the state associated with the priority service subscription indicator and establishing network resources on which the priority communication is to be transmitted, based on at least one of the state associated with the priority service subscription indicator or the state associated with the priority service activation indicator.

Position Determination Using Almanac For Virtual Base Stations

US Patent:
7495608, Feb 24, 2009
Filed:
Jun 16, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/453870
Inventors:
Ben-Ren Chen - Northboro MA, US
Jingyi Zhou - South River NJ, US
Assignee:
Cellco Partnership - Basking Ridge NJ
International Classification:
G01S 1/00
US Classification:
34235709
Abstract:
Mobile station position determination through a wireless communication network, such as a preliminary fix for use in satellite acquisition assistance, utilizes wireless network almanac data defined in a “virtual” manner, for example, with regard to “virtual base stations. ” A virtual base station (VBS) is a logical construct, essentially modeled from a number of actual base stations in a generally known region that use some common identification (e. g. the same SID/NID combination). The VBS has a coverage/service area approximating the aggregate coverage area of the actual base stations. The service provider offering acquisition assistance or a location based service need not know the precise locations of the actual base stations. Instead, the service provider can compile a virtual base station almanac (VBSA) based on the identification information and virtual base station location information, for example, to support the service(s) when the provider's customers roam onto another carrier's network facilities.

Pervasive Computing

US Patent:
2021001, Jan 14, 2021
Filed:
Feb 22, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/969901
Inventors:
- Shenzhen, Guangdong, CN
Jingyi Zhou - Belle Mead NJ, US
Meiqing Huang - Shenzhen, Guangdong, CN
International Classification:
H04W 84/18
H04W 76/20
H04W 74/00
G06Q 10/06
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices related to the convergence of networking and computing capabilities are described. In one representative aspect, a method for application development is described. The method includes making available a first set of services for an application in a domain. The domain corresponds to an industry having a set of business rules, and the first set of services is structured to invoke a second set of services pre-deployed on a first set of communication nodes. The second set of services includes common functionalities according to the set of business rules in the domain. The method also includes deploying the first set of services on a second set of communication nodes to enable an execution of a subset of the business rules in the domain that is specific to the application.

Blended Data Transmission Network For Machine Type Communications

US Patent:
2016026, Sep 8, 2016
Filed:
Mar 2, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/635222
Inventors:
- Arlington VA, US
Jingyi ZHOU - Belle Mead NJ, US
Sanyogita SHAMSUNDER - Basking Ridge NJ, US
International Classification:
H04W 28/02
H04W 16/04
H04W 76/00
H04W 4/00
H04W 4/14
Abstract:
A method includes broadcasting, from an evolved node b (eNodeB), a plurality of Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMN) identifiers (IDs). The plurality of PLMN-IDs include at least one PLMN-ID for a data intensive network and at least one M-PLMN-ID for machine type communications (MTC) in a short messaging network. The method includes receiving a request to transmit MTC data from a MTC device and determining whether the MTC device includes the at least one M-PLMN-ID. The method includes determining whether the MTC data is in a class required to be sent by the data intensive network. The method also includes determining whether the message size is less than the length of structured small data (SSD), and sending the message via the short messaging network in response to a determination that the message size is less than the length of the SSD.

Efficient Machine To Machine Communications

US Patent:
2014033, Nov 6, 2014
Filed:
May 3, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/886738
Inventors:
- Arlington VA, US
Gerard J. Flynn - Washington NJ, US
Jingyi Zhou - Belle Mead NJ, US
Assignee:
VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC. - Arlington VA
International Classification:
H04L 29/08
US Classification:
709217
Abstract:
Techniques described herein may provide for the organization and the control of nodes in an Machine to Machine (M2M) domain that is energy efficient and may provide for prioritized control of network traffic. Data may be received from of clusters of nodes in a M2M network, each of the clusters including one or more nodes to generate the data and a hub node to receive, from the one or more nodes, the generated data. The hub node may transmit the generated data. An update interval for the one or more nodes in each of the clusters may be set on a per-cluster basis and the update interval may define a period at which the one or more nodes in a particular cluster transmit data towards a corresponding hub node of the particular cluster. Additionally, an update interval for the hub node may be set, the update interval for the hub node being set on a per-cluster basis and defining a period at which the hub node transmits data.
