Darko Marcetic - Saint Louis MO, US
Gregory M. Levine - Saint Louis MO, US
Assignee:
Emerson Electric Co. - Saint Louis MO
International Classification:
B08B 3/12
US Classification:
68 3R, 68 16
Abstract:
A system and method of determining the temperature of a rotating electromagnetic machine, such as an electric motor or generator. A temperature calibration parameter is calculated based on the temperature of an object situated close to the motor, such as a motor drive connected to the motor, and a first resistance value of the winding. In exemplary embodiments, the motor drive and first resistance value are determined only after the motor has been idle for some predetermined time period. Once the calibration parameter is calculated, the processor uses it along with subsequent resistance measurements to calculate the temperature of the motor.

Emi Filter And Method

US Patent:
5483136, Jan 9, 1996
Filed:
May 27, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/250158
Inventors:
Joseph G. Marcinkiewicz - Bellefontaine Neighbors MO
Assignee:
Emerson Electric Co. - St. Louis MO
International Classification:
H03H 700
US Classification:
318558
Abstract:
An improved EMI filter design is provided for an inverter operated dynamoelectric machine. A lossy balun wound choke is connected between a power supply in the form of a bridge rectifier and the inverter. The choke acts as a source resistance. Using the choke as the source resistance, an equiripple approximation to linear phase filter is derived. The filter is placed on the input side of the bridge rectifier. A method of designing an EMI filter for use in conjunction with an inverter operated dynamoelectric machine.

H02M 7/06
F25B 49/02
H02P 27/06
H02M 5/458
H02P 5/74
Abstract:
A drive circuit includes a rectification circuit, a buck converter, and an inverter. the rectification circuit is configured to rectify a first AC voltage signal to generate a rectified voltage signal. The buck converter is configured to downconvert the rectified voltage signal to a DC voltage signal, wherein the DC voltage signal is supplied to a DC bus. The inverter is configured to convert the DC voltage signal to a second AC voltage signal and supply the second AC voltage signal to a compressor motor and to a condenser fan motor. The peak voltages of the second AC voltage signal are less than peak voltages of the first AC voltage signal.

Abstract:
A circuit for driving a motor of a compressor includes a microcontroller that outputs a comparison signal in response to a value representative of a current in a power factor correction converter exceeding a reference value. A programmable logic device (PLD) receives control messages from the microcontroller. The PLD sets a value in an off-time register based on a control message from the microcontroller. The PLD controls the power switch according to the comparison signal and the off-time register.

Controller And Method For Transitioning Between Control Angles

US Patent:
2017031, Oct 26, 2017
Filed:
Jul 10, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/645983
Inventors:
- Sidney OH, US
Joseph G. MARCINKIEWICZ - St. Peters MO, US
Assignee:
Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. - Sidney OH
International Classification:
H02P 6/06
H02P 6/20
H02P 6/34
H02M 3/158
H02M 1/42
Abstract:
A control system for a refrigeration system motor includes an angle determination module that generates an output rotor angle indicating a desired angle of a rotor of the motor. A control module controls the motor based on the output rotor angle. An estimator module determines an estimated rotor angle. A transition module generates a transition signal in response to convergence of the estimator module. Upon startup, the angle determination module generates the output rotor angle based on a first rotor angle. Upon generation of the transition signal, the angle determination module generates the output rotor angle based on the first rotor angle and the estimated rotor angle. After generation of the transition signal, the angle determination module reduces a contribution of the first rotor angle to the output rotor angle over time until the output rotor angle is based on the estimated rotor angle independent of the first rotor angle.
