Iron, Cobalt And/Or Nickel Containing Alpo Bound Sapo Molecular Sieve Catalyst For Producing Olefins

US Patent:
6436869, Aug 20, 2002
Filed:
Mar 2, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/517546
Inventors:
Ronald G. Searle - Houston TX
Krishna K. Rao - Kingwood TX
Gary D. Mohr - League City TX
Xiaobing Feng - League City TX
Assignee:
ExxonMobil Chemical Patents Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B01J 27182
US Classification:
502214, 502208
Abstract:
An aluminophosphate bound silicoaluminophosphate catalyst contains iron, cobalt and/or nickel is useful in a method of making a product including an olefin from a feedstock containing an oxygenate. The method includes contacting an oxygenate feedstock with the catalyst, which is an aluminophosphate bound silicoaluminophosphate catalyst containing iron, cobalt and/or nickel and which does not contain a significant amount of amorphous binder, in its activated state under conditions effective to produce an olefin product.

Production, Purification And Polymerization Of Aromatic Dicarboxylic Acids

US Patent:
6642407, Nov 4, 2003
Filed:
Apr 26, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/133083
Inventors:
Krishna Kulai Rao - Kingwood TX
Russell D. Sellen - Beaumont TX
Xiaobing Feng - League City TX
James Spanswick - Wheaton IL
Assignee:
Exxon Mobil Chemical Patents Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C07C 6748
US Classification:
560 79, 560 89, 560 91, 562414
Abstract:
This invention provides a process for purifying the crude aromatic dicarboxylic acids produced by oxidation of dialkyl aromatic hydrocarbons and for using the purified acids in the preparation of polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate and other polyesters. The invention simplifies the manufacturing process by converting the crude aromatic acids into bis-glycol esters in an esterification reactor from which the esterified partial oxidation impurities present in the oxidation product are removed by distillation in distillation tower After removal of the volatile impurities, the dicarboxylic acid esters can separated by distillation in distillation tower or by crystallization and converted to polyesters by polycondensation. The volatile impurities removed as overhead from tower can be recycled as stream to the oxidation reactor where they act as oxidation promoters thereby optionally allowing for a bromine-free oxidation process for dialkyl aromatic hydrocarbons.

Process For The Production Of Reformate Having Reduced Ethylbenzene Content

US Patent:
7067052, Jun 27, 2006
Filed:
Jul 1, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/611183
Inventors:
Thomas H. Colle - Houston TX, US
Xiaobing Feng - Houston TX, US
Gary D. Mohr - Houston TX, US
Krishna Kulai Rao - Kingwood TX, US
Assignee:
ExxonMobil Chemical Patents Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C10G 35/04
US Classification:
208 63, 208 64, 208 65, 208134
Abstract:
A process for reforming a hydrocarbon feed containing precursors of ethylbenzene, e. g. , Cisoalkane and/or Cisoalkene precursors of ethylbenzene, that results in the formation of reduced amounts of ethylbenzene. The process is carried out in a catalytic reforming unit comprised of a plurality of operatively connected reactors comprising at least one lead reforming reactor and a tail reforming reactor. The process is carried out by reforming the feed in at least one lead reactor which contains a first reforming catalyst and a catalyst effective for converting ethylbenzene and further reforming the product of the lead reactor in the tail reactor that contains a second reforming catalyst.

Process For Producing Reformate Having Increased Xylenes Content And Reduced Ethylbenzene Content

US Patent:
7179367, Feb 20, 2007
Filed:
Jul 1, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/611339
Inventors:

ExxonMobil Chemical Patents Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
C10G 35/04
C10G 35/06
US Classification:
208134, 208137
Abstract:
A process for reforming wherein ethylbenzene formed during the reforming is converted to xylenes. The process is carried out by reforming a feed containing precursors of ethylbenzene with a reforming catalyst under conditions effective to reform said feed; wherein the reforming catalyst is contained in a reactor which contains a second catalyst effective under said conditions to convert ethylbenzene to xylenes. The resulting product contains reduced amounts of ethylbenzene and increased amounts of xylenes.
