Rf Pre-Amplifiers And Power Amplifiers

US Patent:
7944305, May 17, 2011
Filed:
Jun 4, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/478393
Inventors:
Howard L. Knickerbocker - Middlefield MA, US
Patrick T. Tracy - Bolton CT, US
Assignee:
Coherent, Inc. - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H03F 3/16
US Classification:
330277, 330305
Abstract:
An RF amplifier circuit includes a MOSFET connected to an RF output of the circuit via an impedance matching network including an inductor and a tuning capacitor connected in parallel with the inductor and the MOSFET. DC voltage is applied to the MOSFET via a series path through a radio frequency choke and the inductor of the impedance matching network.

Arrangement For Rf Power Delivery To A Gas Discharge Laser With Cascaded Transmission Line Sections

US Patent:
7970037, Jun 28, 2011
Filed:
Jun 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/482341
Inventors:
Frederick W. Hauer - Windsor CT, US
Patrick T. Tracy - Bolton CT, US
R. Russel Austin - Cool CA, US
Assignee:
Coherent, Inc. - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H01S 3/22
US Classification:
372 55, 372 29012, 372 56, 372 57, 372 82
Abstract:
RF power is transmitted to a COgas discharge laser form a source of RF power via a series combination of transmission line sections. The lengths and characteristic impedances of the transmission line sections are selected to transform the impedance of the RF power source to the operating impedance of the laser.

Impedance-Matching Transformers For Rf Driven Cogas Discharge Lasers

US Patent:
8354893, Jan 15, 2013
Filed:
Aug 20, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/589447
Inventors:
Frederick W. Hauer - Windsor CT, US
Patrick T. Tracy - Bolton CT, US
Assignee:
Coherent, Inc. - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H03H 7/38
US Classification:
333 33
Abstract:
In a COgas discharge laser energized by a radio frequency (RF) power source a transformer having selectively variable output impedance is used to match output impedance of the power source to the impedance of discharge electrodes of the laser. A similar transformer can be used to impose a selective variable phase-shift on the RF power from the source. The variable impedance transformer can also be used for impedance matching between amplifier stages in the power source.

Impedance-Matching Circuits For Multi-Output Power Supplies Driving Cogas-Discharge Lasers

US Patent:
8648665, Feb 11, 2014
Filed:
Feb 17, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/029953
Inventors:
Frederick W. Hauer - Windsor CT, US
Joel Fontanella - Tolland CT, US
Patrick T. Tracy - Bolton CT, US
Assignee:
Coherent, Inc. - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H03H 7/38
US Classification:
333 173, 333 33
Abstract:
Electrical apparatus for connecting a radio frequency power-supply having two outputs to a load includes two radio frequency transmission-lines, each one connected to a corresponding power-supply output. A transformer arrangement connects the two transmission-lines to the load. Each transmission-line includes a series-connected pair of twelfth-wave transmission-line sections. The series-connection between the twelfth wave transmission-line sections in one transmission line is connected to the series-connection between the twelfth-wave transmission-line sections in the other by a device having an adjustable impedance.
