Filed:
Jul 26, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/625766
Inventors:
Lee LaFleur - Manistee MI
Assignee:
Scholle Custom Packaging, Inc. - Manistee MI
International Classification:
B65D 3008
US Classification:
383109, 383 41, 383 67, 383120, 383904, 383906, 493210, 493254, 493244
Abstract:
A bulk bag or a liner for a bulk container is formed from a plurality of tubular blanks of flexible material so that each wall of the bag or liner has at least two layers of material. Desirably, many woven or plastic sheet materials suitable to make such bags or liners are available in elongate and circumferentially continuous tubular webs such that a plurality of liners or bags may be formed connected in end to end relation on an elongate web. In one form, a pair of gusseted tubular blanks are disposed between and sealed to a pair of overlying flat tubular blanks to define a liner or bag having two layers of material in each wall. In another form, a pair of tubular blanks are folded so that each tubular blank defines one flat panel and one gusseted panel and the tubular blanks are heat sealed along a pair of side edges of the liner or bag to also define a liner or bag having two layers of material in each wall. In still another form, a gusseted tubular blank may be disposed inside or outside of either of the previous forms to provide a liner or bag having each wall formed of three plies or layers of material. In any form, a bag or liner is provided with each wall formed from multiple layers of material and with each layer of each wall properly positioned and without having to stuff one bag or liner into another bag or liner.

Liners Or Bags And Method Of Making Them

US Patent:
6527445, Mar 4, 2003
Filed:
May 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/847729
Inventors:
Lee LaFleur - Manistee MI
R. Daniel Brumm - Manistee MI
Aaron W. Bryan - Custer MI
James E. Rozmarek - Manistee MI
Jeffrey D. Wright - Manistee MI
Assignee:
Scholle Corporation - Irvine CA
International Classification:
B65D 3000
US Classification:
383 37, 383120, 493210, 493244
Abstract:
A method of forming a plurality of interconnected bulk bags or with an interconnecting section of material between adjacent bags on a roll or blank of flexible material to permit the blank of material to be advanced for subsequent processing. The interconnecting section is defined at least in part by a separation line that permits scrap or waste material to be removed from the blank without removing the interconnecting section. This permits the bags to remain interconnected after they are formed so that they may be disposed on a roll or folded in a box for convenient shipping and handling of a plurality of bags. Desirably, perforations maybe provided between adjacent bags to facilitate removal of an individual bag from the remainder.

Form Fit Container Liner

US Patent:
5944251, Aug 31, 1999
Filed:
Jan 7, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/003621
Inventors:
Lee LaFleur - Manistee MI
Assignee:
Custom Packaging Systems, Inc. - Manistee MI
International Classification:
B65D 3018
B65D 560
US Classification:
22911735
Abstract:
A form fit liner for a container has a bottom wall and at least one sidewall formed of at least one layer of a flexible material, at least one heat seal joining two adjacent portions of material of the sidewall and extending from the bottom wall towards the upper edge of the liner to define a reduced cross-sectional area lower portion of the liner constructed to be received within the container and an upper liner portion having a greater cross-sectional area than the lower portion constructed to extend out of the container to isolate the container from its contents as the liner is filled and emptied. The upper portion of the liner which extends above the container can surround a fill tube used to dispense a liquid product into the liner of the container to shield the container from the splashing or sloshing of the liquid product as the container is being filled. If desired, the upper portion may be folded down over a portion of the outside of the container to similarly isolate the container from the contents thereof as the container is filled or emptied. The increased cross-sectional area of the upper portion facilitates folding the upper portion over the container, and especially over insulated containers, such as those used for ice cream, which have a significant wall thickness.

Bag Making Method And Machine

US Patent:
4481006, Nov 6, 1984
Filed:
Dec 16, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/331135
Inventors:
Arthur E. LaFleur - Manistee MI
Lee LaFleur - Manistee MI
Assignee:
Custom Packaging Systems, Inc. - Manistee MI
International Classification:
B31B 2314
US Classification:
493194
Abstract:
A length of woven plastic fabric in tubular form is advanced from a source of supply while telescoped over a separator plate which maintains the two plies of the tubular stock in separated relation. A heated knife blade aligned vertically with the downstream end of the separator plate is reciprocated vertically to sever the tube stock into bag blanks. The severed edges on the upstream side of the heated knife remain separated rather than being heat sealed together by the heated blade. The severed blank is impaled on needles mounted on an endless chain which conveys the blanks laterally through a sewing machine and/or a sealing mechanism for securely closing one end of the blanks. Thereafter successive blanks are conveyed to a stacking device which disengages the blanks from the needle chain and stacks them horizontally one upon another.

Bulk Bag With Restrainer

US Patent:
5664887, Sep 9, 1997

Custom Packaging Systems, Inc. - Manistee MI
International Classification:
B65D 3302
US Classification:
383119
Abstract:
A collapsible bulk bag which when filled with material has a generally cubical configuration with a pair of end walls and rectangular sidewalls extending between them with all of the walls being of a flexible material. Bowing and bulging of the sidewalls from a planar configuration is retarded and restrained by loops of cord operably connected with the sidewalls. Preferably the loops of cord having portions inside the bag extending obliquely between adjacent sidewalls when the bag is filled. Method and apparatus for making the bag with the double knotted loops of cord are also disclosed.

Tank Liner And Method Of Installation

US Patent:
5794670, Aug 18, 1998
Filed:
Aug 23, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/701863
Inventors:
Lee LaFleur - Manistee MI
Assignee:
Custom Packaging Systems, Inc. - Manistee MI
International Classification:
B65B 104
US Classification:

Abstract:
A collapsible container liner for use within a bulk container having a substantially rigid top, bottom and side walls and a filler opening in the top wall. The liner is a collapsible bag of a flexible material with top, bottom and sides which correspond to the container walls within the interior of the container. A first opening in the liner top corresponds to the filler opening in the container top wall. A seal is formed between the container top wall and the liner top around the periphery of the filler opening and the first opening. A second opening in the liner top is spaced from the first opening and has an evacuation outlet attached to the liner top around the periphery of the second opening. Air is evacuated through the outlet from the space between the liner and the interior of the container, a vacuum forms which collapses the liner against the container interior surfaces. A removable cap is sealably received in the evacuation outlet to maintain the evacuated condition within the space so that the liner retains its shape conforming to the interior configuration of the container.
