Cmp Diamond Conditioning Disk

US Patent:
2007006, Mar 22, 2007
Filed:
Aug 23, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/508654
Inventors:
Roy Wielonski - Worthington OH, US
Loyal Peterman - Dublin OH, US
International Classification:
B24B 21/18
US Classification:
451443000
Abstract:
A method of making and the resulting non-metallic CMP conditioning pad comprising a non-metallic substrate and a single layer of abrasive particles bonded to the substrate by a non-metallic bonding medium. Preferred substrates include aluminum oxide and graphite. A bonding system employing finely powdered aluminum oxide particles mixed with a suitable adhesive is employed to bond the abrasive layer to the aluminum oxide substrate. Silicon carbide particles mixed into a compatible adhesive carrier including a polymer composition is preferred for bonding the abrasive particle layer to a graphite or carbide substrate.

Diamond Gear Hone

US Patent:
4077164, Mar 7, 1978
Filed:
Jun 23, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/809316
Inventors:
Loyal M. Peterman - Dublin OH
Assignee:
Abrasive Technology, Inc. - Columbus OH
International Classification:
B23F 2106
US Classification:
51206P
Abstract:
A diamond hone for re-working and correcting lead and involute profile of hardened gears which is characterized by a monolayer of diamond abrasive bonded to a gear hone which is provided with a unique geometry wherein the tip and pitch diameter portions are specifically formed to obtain a predetermined deviation from the true involute form conventionally employed. This new diamond hone and unique geometry imparts the desirable final geometry in the re-worked gear.

Apparatus And Method For Manufacturing Abrasive Tools

US Patent:
2007001, Jan 25, 2007
Filed:
Jul 19, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/489324
Inventors:
Loyal Peterman - Dublin OH, US
Yefim Vernik - Vernon Hills IL, US
International Classification:
B24D 3/02
A21C 3/00
C09K 3/14
B28B 3/02
B29C 41/42
US Classification:
051307000, 264334000, 264319000, 264501000, 425193000
Abstract:
A compression molding apparatus and method for the manufacture of abrasive layers for abrasive tooling which provides a compression mold space defined between an inflexible wall surface and a flexible wall surface. The apparatus and method of the present invention is particularly well suited to making annular or hollow cylindrical shaped abrasive layers of novel configurations during a single mold cycle useful for grinding wheel and the like, as well as other shapes such as laps, wherein the flexible wall expanded with fluid pressure provides a highly uniform distribution of pressure against the surface of the mold composition being formed. In an annular configuration, the flexible wall is used to radially direct pressure against a molding composition disposed in an annular configuration wherein the axial length of the annular mold shape formed may be many times greater than priorly obtained by the prior art means.
