Enlarged Display For A Camera Viewfinder

US Patent:
7885537, Feb 8, 2011
Filed:
Jun 9, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/157251
Inventors:
Mark L. Kuss - Lowell AR, US
International Classification:
G03B 13/02
H04N 5/222
US Classification:
396374, 396383, 34833306
Abstract:
A remote viewfinder display device using an image capturing device including a sensor positioned at an existing camera's viewfinder in communication with a remote display device which shows the viewfinder image at an alternative location to allow a photographer to frame the photograph in the viewfinder when the viewfinder is in an inaccessible or inconvenient position. The display can also provide a larger image for easier viewing. The remote viewfinder display device eliminates the constraints of a near eye view finder and provides for the ability to frame pictures with the alternatively positioned viewable screen or display independent of the existing camera's limited viewfinder position.

Apparatus And Method For The Evaluation Of Asphalt Mixes

US Patent:
6125685, Oct 3, 2000
Filed:
Sep 30, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/163945
Inventors:
Rebecca E. Collier - Madison IA
Mark L. Kuss - Lowell AR
Assignee:
The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas - Little Rock AK
International Classification:
E01C 2301
G01L 500
G01M 1900
US Classification:
73 7
Abstract:
The present invention provides and apparatus and method for analyzing the rutting and stripping characteristics of hot mix asphalt concrete samples. The apparatus of the invention measures the vertical penetration of a wheel rolling in a reciprocating motion across the surface of a compacted asphalt mix specimen. The apparatus incorporates precise environmental control and includes features for testing two or more samples simultaneously under wet or dry conditions or a combination of wet and dry conditions.

On-Line Respirometer Using Constant Oxygen Concentration In Reaction Vessel

US Patent:
6063617, May 16, 2000
Filed:
Sep 3, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/146846
Inventors:
James C. Young - Springdale AR
Mark L. Kuss - Lowell AR
Assignee:
Challenge Enviromental Systems, Inc. - Fayetteville AR
International Classification:
C12M 300
US Classification:
4352875
Abstract:
An on-line respirometer for measuring oxygen uptake by wastewater samples, plants, or animals due to respiration. A closed reaction vessel is adapted to receive and expel wastewater samples or the like. The vessel contains oxygen-sensing probes that constantly evaluate the concentration of oxygen either in the headspace of the vessel or in the samples contained in the slurry within the vessel. The oxygen that is consumed during the respiration of the test samples is immediately replaced by concurrent oxygen injection to maintain a constant oxygen concentration in the reaction vessel. This rapid oxygen replacement is accomplished through an oxygen feedback supply circuit that restores oxygen concentration to its original level in a matter of seconds. The respirometer uses a constant air flow system that allows for the precise oxygen level control. Direct measurement of the oxygen injected for equilibrium control is equated to the uptake.

Method And Apparatus For Measuring Gas Flow Using Bubble Volume

US Patent:
5092181, Mar 3, 1992
Filed:
Jun 21, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/541756
Inventors:
Mark L. Kuss - Lowell AR
James C. Young - Fayetteville AR
Assignee:
The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas - Little Rock AR
International Classification:
G01F 1300
US Classification:
7386141
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for measuring minute gas flows and/or accumulations wherein a gas flow is bubbled through a defined path in separated form and a sensor is used to detect and count each bubble. The bubble count signal can be used to calculate gas accumulation, or to calculate gas flow rate if made during a defined time period, or to meter the flow of the gas to a point of utilization.
