H01Q 13/00
H01Q 15/08
US Classification:
343713, 343762, 343786, 343911 R
Abstract:
A communication system including an antenna array with feed network coupled to communication electronics. In one example, a communication subsystem comprises a plurality of antennas each adapted to receive an information signal and a plurality of orthomode transducers coupled to corresponding ones of the plurality of antennas, each OMT is adapted to provide at a first component signal having a first polarization and a second component signal having a second polarization. The communication subsystem also comprises a feed network that receives the first component signal and the second component signal from each orthomode transducer and provides a first summed component signal at a first feed port and a second summed component signal at a second feed port, and a phase correction device coupled to the first and second feed ports and adapted to phase match the first summed component signal with the second summed component signal.

Compact High Efficiency Intregrated Direct Wave Mobile Communications Terminal

US Patent:
2012028, Nov 15, 2012
Filed:
May 11, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/469903
Inventors:
Richard B. Anderson - Aurora OH, US
Matthew Flannery - Girard OH, US
Geoffrey Rochat - Mendon MA, US
International Classification:
H04B 7/185
US Classification:
342352
Abstract:
A compact mobile satellite communications system, including an integrated direct wave antenna and a low profile precision antenna positioning system, where the integrated direct wave antenna is configured to provide the minimum swept volume when steered and pointed such that it moves completely within a ten inch sphere, which provides an advantage when the system is mounted on a moving vehicle such as an aircraft, and the integrated direct wave antenna includes a refractive component as well as down conversion electronics to provide a L band signal output.

Communication System With Broadband Antenna

US Patent:
2015002, Jan 22, 2015
Filed:
Jun 24, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/313595
Inventors:
- East Aurora NY, US
Michael J. Barrett - Temple NH, US
Frank James Blanda - Amherst NH, US
Robert Krivicich - Brookline NH, US
Richard B. Anderson - Aurora OH, US
Matthew A. Flannery - Girard OH, US
International Classification:

H01Q 21/06
H01Q 13/02
H01Q 3/08
US Classification:
342359, 343756
Abstract:
A communication system including a plurality of horn antennas, a waveguide feed network, and a converter unit coupled to the plurality of horn antennas is disclosed. The waveguide feed network is coupled to each horn antenna, splits an information signal into a first component signal having a first polarization and a second component signal having a second polarization and provides a first summed component signal at a first feed port and a second summed component signal at a second feed port. The converter unit receives the first summed component signal and the second summed component signal and compensates for polarization skew between the antenna array and a source.
