Antenna System

US Patent:
2007008, Apr 12, 2007
Filed:
Aug 2, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/195306
Inventors:
Matthew Lannon - Dracut MA, US
Clyde Callewaert - Shelby TWP MI, US
Assignee:
M/A Com, Inc. - Lowell MA
International Classification:
G08B 13/14
US Classification:
340572700
Abstract:
An antenna system for a radio frequency identification system comprising: (a) a base; (b) a first patch antenna disposed on the base and having a circular polarization and adapted to convert between electrical signals and electromagnetic fields; and (c) a second patch antenna disposed on the base and having a circular polarization and adapted to convert between electrical signals and electromagnetic fields, the second antenna being disposed at a distance from the first antenna to define a region between the first and the antenna, the second patch antenna being positioned relative to the first patch antenna such that the electromagnetic fields of the two antennas are substantially opposing in the region.

Object Direction Indication Through The Use Of Multiple Antenna Beams

US Patent:
2009028, Nov 26, 2009
Filed:
Dec 19, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/340589
Inventors:
ROBERT SCHILLING - Londonderry NH, US
Matthew Lannon - Dracut MA, US
International Classification:
H01Q 21/00
US Classification:
343893
Abstract:
An arrangement of RFID antennas, comprises a first antenna having a beam centered at a first angle right of a center point and a second antenna having a beam centered at a second angle left of the center point, where the two beams being narrower than 70 degrees. This arrangement of RFID antennas enables division of the azimuth read zone of a reader into two or more zones which can provide a highly reliable indication of direction from the processing of RF tag reads.

Mobile Radio Frequency Identification (Rfid) Reader System

US Patent:
2010017, Jul 15, 2010
Filed:
Jan 12, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/352258
Inventors:
Paul John Schwab - Nashua NH, US
Matthew Lannon - Dracut MA, US
Robert Schilling - Londonderry NH, US
International Classification:
H04Q 5/22
US Classification:
340 101
Abstract:
A mobile radio frequency identification (RFID) reader system is provided. The RFID reader system includes an RFID reader. The RFID reader system further includes a primary antenna for transmitting RFID signals to acquire RFID information from RFID item tags and a secondary antenna for transmitting RFID signals to acquire RFID information from one of RFID shelf tags and RFID floor tags.
