Dual Flow Gas Lift Valve

US Patent:
2013008, Apr 11, 2013
Filed:
Oct 11, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/270254
Inventors:
Michael S. Juenke - Spring TX, US
Assignee:
WEATHERFORD/LAMB, INC. - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 43/00
E21B 34/00
US Classification:
166372, 166321
Abstract:
A gas lift system has mandrels deploying downhole and has gas lift valves deploying on the mandrels. In general, the mandrel can have an interior and can have at least one port communicating outside the mandrel. To achieve higher gas injection while maintaining component sizes in desirable ranges, the gas lift valve of the present disclosure has multiple injection outlets, and a common opening pressure can control the opening of each of the injection outlets in the valve. The valve can open in two places, allowing gas to flow through the nose of the valve as well as through a ported latch at the top of the valve. In this way, that valve can offer larger injection capabilities while keeping a suitable outside diameter.

Inhibition Of Paraffin Wall Deposition In Oil Lines

US Patent:
2008006, Mar 20, 2008
Filed:
Sep 14, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/531994
Inventors:
MICHAEL JUENKE - SPRING TX, US
LAWRENCE RZEZNIK - SPRING TX, US
Assignee:
WEATHERFORD/LAMB, INC. - HOUSTON TX
International Classification:
C02F 1/48
US Classification:
210695, 210696, 210748, 204554, 208 24, 1663051
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method for treating hydrocarbon fluids to inhibit the deposition of paraffin compounds on the interior of pipes and other surfaces. The method includes injecting a catalyst fluid containing scale forming compounds into the hydrocarbon fluid. The scale forming compounds may be calcium carbonate, calcium bicarbonate, calcium, bicarbonate barium sulfate, or other compounds/ingredients. The catalyst fluid may be an aqueous or non-aqueous solution. The method further includes inducing an electromagnetic field in the fluid so as to cause the formation of seed crystals from the scale forming compounds. The paraffin will then adhere to the seed crystals, i.e., scale particles. The resulting particles can then be filtered out or otherwise removed from the solution. Paraffin deposition on the interior of pipes and other surfaces is therefore inhibited. Also disclosed herein are hydrocarbon wells and other piping systems constructed to take advantage of the described techniques.

Apparatus And Methods For Operating Gas Lift Wells

US Patent:
2020027, Sep 3, 2020
Filed:
May 15, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/875110
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Ashish DAVID RAKHIT - Katy TX, US
Stephen LONG - The Woodlands TX, US
Michael S. JUENKE - Spring TX, US
Stephen E. CANNON - Canton TX, US
International Classification:
E21B 43/12
E21B 47/04
E21B 47/06
Abstract:
An exemplary method of the present disclosure includes causing, by a processing system proximate to the wellbore, injection of the lift gas into the wellbore at a first gas injection rate; obtaining, by the processing system, a first indication of a parameter associated with the wellbore, an arrival of a first fluid at a wellhead associated with the wellbore, or a composition of the first fluid; determining, by the processing system and based on the first indication, at least one of: a second gas injection rate of the intermittent gas lift system, a first period to inject the lift gas with the intermittent gas lift system, or a second period, subsequent to the first period, with no injection of the lift gas by the intermittent gas lift system; and operating, by the processing system, the intermittent gas lift system according to the determination.

Reverse Flow Jet Pump

US Patent:
2016013, May 19, 2016
Filed:
Nov 17, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/943824
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Osman Nunez - Fort Worth TX, US
Michael Juenke - Spring TX, US
International Classification:
F04F 5/46
E21B 43/12
F04F 5/10
Abstract:
A jet pump of a downhole tool in a wellbore, wherein the jet pump has a nozzle in fluid communication with a throat and wherein the throat is further in fluid communication with a diffuser, the jet pump further having a central channel located towards an uphole end of the downhole tool, wherein the central channel is configured to house a volume of power fluid; a first annular channel defined in the downhole tool, wherein the first annular channel is arranged around the nozzle and in fluid communication with the central channel; a volume of production fluid located towards a downhole end of the downhole tool; a second annular channel defined in the downhole tool configured to house the volume of production fluid; and a reverse channel in fluid connection with the second annular channel, wherein the reverse channel is in fluid communication with the nozzle.

Two-Piece Plunger With Sleeve And Spear For Plunger Lift System

US Patent:
2016009, Mar 31, 2016
Filed:
Sep 30, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/502054
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Michael S. Juenke - Spring TX, US
International Classification:
E21B 43/12
E21B 19/10
E21B 34/14
Abstract:
A plunger lift system has a plunger with a sleeve and a spear that dispose in tubing. The sleeve and spear can move in the tubing between a bumper and a lubricator. The sleeve has a passage for fluid to pass therethrough, and the spear can insert partially into the sleeve's passage. The sleeve and spear fall independently of one another from the surface to the bumper. When disposed on the bumper, the sleeve and spear mate together. Building gas pressure downhole can then lift the mated sleeve and spear, which can sweep liquid along the tubing and push the liquid along with them to the surface.
