Computer Implemented Method And System For Managing Server-Based Rendering Of Messages In A Heterogeneous Environment

US Patent:
2008001, Jan 10, 2008
Filed:
Jul 10, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/456225
Inventors:
Jeffrey Mark Achtermann - Austin TX, US
Andrew William Lucchesi - Austin TX, US
Navin D. Manohar - Pflugerville TX, US
Victor Gee Yiu - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709217, 709203
Abstract:
Computer implemented method, system and computer usable program code for rendering messages in a data processing system. A computer implemented method for rendering a message in a data processing system includes updating a source object of a secondary web page associated with a primary web page with information regarding a message to be rendered. The information is transmitted to a remote location using the secondary web page. Message code is received from the remote location that includes the message to be rendered and message rendering instructions, and the received message code is processed to render the message for display on the primary web page.

Dynamic Report Mapping Apparatus To Physical Data Source When Creating Report Definitions For Information Technology Service Management Reporting For Peruse Of Report Definition Transparency And Reuse

US Patent:
2008000, Jan 3, 2008
Filed:
Jun 29, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/427385
Inventors:
KYUSUN CHANG - Austin TX, US
Navin D. Manohar - Pflugerville TX, US
Ryan Kelly Wilhm - Cedar Park TX, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707204
Abstract:
A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer program product for dynamically creating report mapping relationships at runtime within an information technology infrastructure. When report definition comprising a generalized description of desired data without any database-specific properties is generated, a relationship mapping definition based on the generalized description in the report definition is created, wherein the relationship mapping definition comprises data connection information for accessing the data sources containing the desired data. The relationship mapping definition is then used to initiate a connection to the data sources. Once the desired data has been acquired from the data sources, a report may then be created using the acquired data.

Distribution Of Components Of Displayed Data Between A Server And A Client Based On Server And Client Load Factors

US Patent:
2021003, Feb 4, 2021
Filed:
Aug 2, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/530523
Inventors:
- Armonk NY, US
Terry Wade Niemeyer - Austin TX, US
Mark Allen Sistrunk - Austin TX, US
Jiandong Tang - Campbell CA, US
Navin Manohar - Cedar Park TX, US
Lori Christine Simcox - Los Gatos CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 9/50
Abstract:
A determination is made of values for measures that affect processing of data in a computing environment comprising a client communicatively coupled to a server, wherein the measures include data factors, client factors, and server factors. A determination is made as to whether a load on the client is greater than the load on the server by calculating a load on the client and a load on the server based on the data factors, the client factors and the server factors, and then comparing the load on the client to the load on the server. In response to determining that the load on the client is greater than the load on the server, the data is stored at a location in the server, and an indication is made in a data structure in the client of a pointer to the location in the server.

Dynamic System Log Preprocessing

US Patent:
2020006, Feb 27, 2020
Filed:
Aug 25, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/112665
Inventors:
- Armonk NY, US
Navin Manohar - Cedar Park TX, US
Lori C. Simcox - Los Gatos CA, US
Mark A. Sistrunk - Austin TX, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 11/07
G06F 12/0802
G06F 3/06
Abstract:
A method for more effectively recording information in system logs is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes detecting errors on a system such as a host system or storage system over a specified period of time. The method stores information associated with the errors in a memory buffer. The method further preprocesses the information in the memory buffer to condense the information and remove duplication. In certain embodiments, this preprocessing includes grouping errors by error type and providing a single stack trace or other information per error type. The method then outputs the preprocessed information to a log file. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.
