Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for purifying a protein complex and the components comprising the complex from a cell, a cell or tissue lysate or a whole organism by employing a combined set of affinity tags of high affinity, specificity and ease of elution. The method involves using a protein or a peptide modified to contain one or more affinity tags separated by one or more specific protease cleavage sites to isolate any interacting proteins or fragments thereof. Specifically exemplified is a method employing a modified bait containing AviTag or GST and a removal tag of Hishexapeptide positioned proximal to the bait such that any excess bait can be efficiently removed from the purified complex yielding enriched interacting proteins prior to subjecting the complex for further identification of individual components. The identification of the proteins or fragments thereof contained in the protein complex will provide new targets for the identification of new pharmaceuticals and diagnostic tools.

Abstract:
A variable pleat filter paper pleater with rotary scoring means is disclosed. A large roll of resin impregnated paper is passed through rotary scoring means to score the paper to facilitate folding (pleating). The paper is drawn past or through the rotary scoring means by drive rollers. The rotary scoring means rotational speed may be varied with respect to the drive rolls. The scored paper passes from the drive rolls into pleating means which causes the paper to form pleats. The pleated paper is passed through an oven to cure the paper. The cured or partially cured paper is placed in porous canisters. Lids are sealed on each end of the canister to form an air filter for vehicles.

An apparatus and method for crushing cylindrical cans is disclosed. The apparatus and method are particularly useful for crushing cylindrical beverage cans such as those commonly used as containers for soft drinks and beer. The cans are crushed along their longitudinal axes by parallel crushing faces which each move towards each other along predetermined arcual paths. The faces are continuously moving along an arcual path so that the faces crush the can and then move away from the can to discharge it from the bottom of the apparatus.
