Home System Including A Portable Fob Mating With System Components

US Patent:
2005008, Apr 21, 2005
Filed:
Oct 15, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/686016
Inventors:
Joseph Ballay - Pittsburgh PA, US
Michael McManus - Oakdale PA, US
Peter Lucas - Pittsburgh PA, US
Jeffrey Senn - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
H04B007/00
US Classification:
455500000
Abstract:
A home wellness system includes a plurality of sensors, each including a first wireless port and a second program port, and a headless base station including a wireless port. A portable display and configuration fob includes a portable housing, a first wireless port wirelessly communicating with the wireless port of the base station, a second program port adapted for communication with the second program port of the sensors when engaged with or proximate that port, a rotary thumbwheel encoder, and a display. A processor receives engagement or proximity information from the second port of the portable fob, selects sensor information describing the sensors and responsive to the encoder, and sends the sensor information to the wireless port of the base station.

Location Based Point Of Interest Navigation System

US Patent:
2008031, Dec 18, 2008
Filed:
Jun 14, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/818494
Inventors:
Peter Lucas - Pittsburgh PA, US
Michael McManus - Oakdale PA, US
Jeremy Koempel - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
G01C 21/00
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
701204, 701208
Abstract:
A navigation system for an automotive vehicle that travels on roads includes a vehicle positioning apparatus that determines location data associated with the vehicle. A source of attraction location data provides location data associated with a plurality of attractions that are of interest to a user of the vehicle. A processing device is communicatively coupled to the vehicle positioning apparatus and to the source of attraction location data. The processing device calculates a distance and direction from the vehicle to at least one of the attractions of interest. The calculating is based upon the location data associated with the vehicle and the location data associated with the attractions of interest. A graphical display arrangement is communicatively coupled to the processing device. The graphical display arrangement indicates the calculated distance and direction without graphically indicating orientation of roads on which the vehicle may travel.

Specimen Management System

US Patent:
2010006, Mar 18, 2010
