Lamination And Conversion Process And Apparatus

US Patent:
2007013, Jun 21, 2007
Filed:
Dec 21, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/644320
Inventors:
Peter Quinn - Danbury CT, US
Assignee:
Annaqin LLC - Danbury CT
International Classification:
C23C 14/32
C23C 14/00
US Classification:
204192380, 204298410
Abstract:
A coating of a target material is applied onto a substrate by placing the substrate in a chamber and energizing cathodes in the chamber to produce a plasma. Each cathode comprises a target material and is positioned in the same side of the chamber relative to the substrate. The plasma circulates in the chamber. An acid-resistant metal film can be made from an acid-soluble metal by applying the metal onto an acid-resistant substrate as described herein. A cathodic vapor deposition apparatus includes a chamber having a wall, including a wall comprising an access door. There are cathodes on the wall, a pump operatively connected to the chamber, and a fixture in the chamber. The fixture is electrically isolated from the chamber and the cathodes are all on the same side of the fixture. An article of manufacture may contain a polymeric substrate having a film of metal target material deposited thereon by the method described herein, or a metal substrate having a primer thereon, and, on the primer, a film of metal target material.

Method And Apparatus For Automatically Testing Reeled Axial-Lead Electrical Devices Under Environmental Conditions

US Patent:
4058219, Nov 15, 1977
Filed:
Oct 26, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/735419
Inventors:
Peter W. Quinn - Danbury CT
Assignee:
Lorlin Industries Inc. - Danbury CT
International Classification:
B07C 508
US Classification:
209 81R
Abstract:
Reeled axial-lead devices such as diodes, resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors and SCRs are carried in linear array by two coextensive tapes wound about a reel. The reel-to-reel apparatus of the invention includes a take-up reel and drive means for conveying the taped electrical components from the supply reel to the take up reel, and disposed intermediate said conveyor is an environmental chamber through which the taped reel is threaded. While in the environmental chamber, the electrical components and the tapes are selectively subjected to differential temperatures whereby only the electrical components are heated or cooled to the desired temperature preparatory to testing. Subsequentially, each electrical component is sequentially tested, and if found defective, is removed from the tape carrier by cutter means. The reeled components are then wound about the take-up reel.

Wafer Aligners

US Patent:
4425075, Jan 10, 1984
Filed:
Apr 20, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/255415
Inventors:
Peter W. Quinn - Danbury CT
Assignee:
The Perkin-Elmer Corporation - Norwalk CT
International Classification:
B65G 5102
B65G 4724
US Classification:
414755
Abstract:
An apparatus for prealigning a silicon wafer prior to transfer to a work station. The wafer is spun on an aligning platform by means of air jets emanating from holes disposed in the surface of the platform while simultaneously being stopped by means of a vacuum source communicating with the surface of the platform. Sensor means detect when the wafer is centered within a first predetermined tolerance to turn off the air jets and vacuum to stop the wafer. Control means responsive to the sensor means then center the wafer to within a second predetermined tolerance. The wafer is then transported to the work station for processing.

Automatic Feeding And Sorting Equipment For Electrical Components

US Patent:
3980553, Sep 14, 1976
Filed:
May 9, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/576157
Inventors:
Peter W. Quinn - Danbury CT
Assignee:
Lorlin Industries Inc. - Danbury CT
International Classification:
B07C 508
US Classification:
209 73
Abstract:
An automatic testing machine which picks up electrical components such as transistors from a feed mechanism and feeds them to spaced clamped positions at the periphery of a test wheel. The test wheel is turned by a stepper motor and the electrical devices are tested at one or more positions by clamping their terminals between two jaws, which contain contact fingers connected to test circuits. After testing, the results are registered in an electronic memory circuit and made available for a sorting action. A series of chutes and bins is positioned around the test wheel and the tested devices are discharged into the bins according to the results of the tests. A fast stepping motor and a low inertia test wheel permit test proceedures of high speed.
