Device For Multiplexing Video Signals

US Patent:
4139868, Feb 13, 1979
Filed:
Apr 21, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/789547
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
George R. Quick - Silver Spring MD
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Binghamton NY
International Classification:
H04N 578
US Classification:
360 33
Abstract:
This invention relates to a system that permits a video tape recorder to simultaneously record a plurality of independently occurring events. The system causes the events to be multiplexed before they are recorded and a coded signal to be recorded on the tape so that when the tape is played back, the events may be demultiplexed in the same order that they were recorded.

Simulated Communications System

US Patent:
3985969, Oct 12, 1976
Filed:
Aug 14, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/604568
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Binghamton NY
International Classification:
H04J 300
US Classification:
179 15A
Abstract:
This invention is drawn to a system which simulates a communications system among a plurality of independent vehicles. The simulated system utilizes pulse width modulation to reduce noise and eliminate cross-talk. In addition, the simulated communications system includes a network having computer-controlled switches which automatically determine which simulated vehicles are sufficiently close to be in communication range with each other and which are not. Thus, this disclosure describes a system which is maintained under digital control and which utilizes pulse modulation to carry the actual transmission of intelligence.

Adjustable Stroke Length, Reciprocating Tools

US Patent:
4031763, Jun 28, 1977
Filed:
Sep 15, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/613631
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Binghamton NY
International Classification:
F16H 2118
US Classification:
74 50
Abstract:
This invention is drawn to reciprocating power tools. It is often desirable in reciprocating power tools to be able to adjust the length of the stroke of the tool member. The invention disclosed herein comprises an inexpensive device for performing this function. In effect, a screw adjustment member having a hand knob is mounted in the tool housing and when rotated changes the position of one end of a simple lever. The other end of the lever bears against a rotating member which is mounted on the power output shaft of the tool. As this movable rotating member is adjusted, it causes a second simple lever to rotate, changing the position of the arm of the reciprocating mechanism with respect to the shaft of the power drive means. Thus, as the knob on the screw adjustment member is rotated, the swing arm length of the eccentric driven by the power source may be varied.

Fast-.Rho. .Theta. Random Access Memory Device

US Patent:
4208721, Jun 17, 1980
Filed:
Sep 18, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/943435
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Binghamton NY
International Classification:
G01S 744
US Classification:
364731
Abstract:
This invention comprises a system that may be utilized in a simulated radar and/or sonar system to convert polar coordinate range and bearing radar and/or sonar scans into X, Y coordinate radar and/or sonar scans. Information regarding the geographic area that is being simulated is entered into this invention and the output of this invention is an X, Y scan conversion that represents the intensity of matter that is going to be written on displays.

Simulated Training System That Utilizes Operational Equipment

US Patent:
4057913, Nov 15, 1977
Filed:
Mar 26, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/670620
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Binghamton NY
International Classification:
G09B 908
US Classification:
35 12B
Abstract:
The invention of this disclosure is a training system that utilizes operational equipment in conjunction with ground-based simulation training equipment. The apparatus of this invention comprises airborne military aircraft that contains avionics equipment, an on-board computer coupled to a transmitter and a receiver coupled to the aircraft for receiving signals from the ground-based simulator. The aircraft transmits signals to an interface unit that sends those signals to a simulator that receives and processes signals from the interface unit to cause an acoustic generator to produce the same signals that would be generated by some surface ship or submarine, as detected by a plurality of sonobuoys. The acoustic sounds generated by the simulator are transmitted to the receiver aboard the aircraft. Thus, this invention enables a flight crew to train on a simulator while flying in an actual aircraft.

Simulated Flame Torch

US Patent:
3975834, Aug 24, 1976
Filed:
Aug 4, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/601421
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
Walter E. Myles - Alexandria VA
Assignee:
The Singer Company - New York NY
International Classification:
G09B 900
US Classification:
35 1
Abstract:
A simulated flame torch which gives a student the opportunity to light a simulated furnace using the simulated torch without actually starting a fire and incurring a potential fire hazard. The apparatus comprises a hollow shaft that is attached to a handle; a plurality of light pipes connected to the shaft near its bottom; a source of electric power contained within the shaft; a plurality of electric lamps coupled to the power source; and means for turning the lamps on so that light will be transmitted through the light pipes simulating a flame when the light moves through the air. Thus, the device can be used to teach a student the proper procedure for handling a lighted torch.

Wireless Output/Input System

US Patent:
4232299, Nov 4, 1980
Filed:
Aug 2, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/930356
Inventors:
Robert M. Eisenberg - Woodbine MD
Assignee:
The Singer Company - Binghamton NY
International Classification:
H04Q 912
US Classification:
340171R
Abstract:
A system for entering information into an electronic system from some remote location and displaying certain information that is produced by the electronic system at a remote location. The apparatus of this invention is a portable, hand/held, compact device that may be used for entering information into a digital computer and displaying information that is output by the computer without any wires being interconnected between the portable device and the computer.
