Security Method With Applied Invisible Security Code Markings

US Patent:
5083814, Jan 28, 1992
Filed:
Mar 27, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/675660
Inventors:
Robert R. Guinta - Woodcliff Lake NJ
Lewis Barton - New York NY
Peter M. Gandolfo - Southport CT
John J. Mullins - Chester NY
Assignee:
SMS Group Inc. - Tarrytown-on-Hudson NY
International Classification:
B42D 1500
US Classification:
283 70
Abstract:
An antitheft security system is disclosed for automotive, marine, and other valuable personal articles such as objects of art and valuable collectible objects. A dealer/installer is provided with equipment comprising a main unit having a memory, a keyboard for data entry, and a visual screen for monitoring the data entry procedure and also for displaying to the dealer the precise locations on the article where it is to be marked. The unit randomly selects different marking locations on the article by calling up form its memory a programmed universe of several hundred possible marking sites for each particular type of item. An image of the item is displayed on the visual screen, which indicates the exact location where each marking is to be made. The security codes are applied by a portable hand-held marking head containing an electrostatic, noncontact ink jet spraying nozzle which invisibly microprints a unique, classified security code in a dot matrix format of alphanumeric characters onto the surface. After the marking is completed, the unit transmits the subscriber information, confidential registration code, and coordinates of all markings to a limited access national data base.

Method Of Evaluating The Vestibular System

US Patent:
4667676, May 26, 1987
Filed:
Jun 17, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/745854
Inventors:
Robert R. Guinta - Woodcliff Lake NJ
Assignee:
Audimax, Inc. - Hackensack NJ
International Classification:
A61N 136
US Classification:
128419R
Abstract:
Vestibular stimulation of a patient is effected by applying to the mastoid area metal, disk-like electrodes covered with insulating material, connected in a series resonant circuit including the electrodes and the body tissues therebetween, energizing the series resonant circuit by an ultrasonic frequency carrier, the frequency of which is determined by the series resonant circuit, and modulating the amplitude of the carrier at a frequency in the range from about 0. 1 Hz to about 15 Hz to evoke a nystagmus response. The response is recorded as an indication of the condition of the vestibular system of the patient.
