May 17, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/573789
Inventors:
Robert Zaczek - Avondale PA
Richard E. Olson - Wilmington DE
Dietmar A. Seiffert - Boothwyn PA
Lorin A. Thompson - Wilmington DE
Assignee:
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company - Princeton NJ
International Classification:
A61K 4900
US Classification:
424 92, 424 111, 424 165, 424 181, 424 91
Abstract:
This invention relates to a novel method of screening for inhibitors of beta-amyloid production, and thereby identifying such inhibitors as therapeutics for neurological and other disorders involving APP processing and beta-amyloid production. This invention also relates to identifying macromolecules involved in APP processing and beta-amyloid production. Furthermore, inhibitors identified by the screening method of the present invention are useful in the treatment of neurological disorders, such as Alzheimers disease, which involve elevated levels of A peptides.
