Host Protected Area( Hpa) Duplication Process

US Patent:
2002013, Sep 19, 2002
Filed:
May 25, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/866332
Inventors:
Alan Sales - Sioux City IA, US
Mike Jaskowiak - Sioux City IA, US
Roger Widner - Vermillion SD, US
Assignee:
Gateway, Inc.
International Classification:
H04L009/32
US Classification:
713/200000, 705/058000
Abstract:
The content of a hard disk drive or the like information storage media that includes content stored in a host protected area (HPA) or reserve area of the hard disk is duplicated using hard disk drive duplicating machinery. The duplication process includes the steps of detecting the presence of a HPA on a source drive, and if detected, generating an HPA area of the same or of a sufficiently accommodating size on the target disk drive. Information from the source HPA drive is written to the thus created HPA area of the target drive. The remaining content from the source drive is written to an available section of the target drive. The invention is thereby able to detect whether a source drive has a HPA, create an HPA on the target drive, and to copy the content of the source HPA to the HPA on the target device to ensure a proper duplication of the target drive.

Headrest Mount For Tablet Computer And Method

US Patent:
2013018, Jul 18, 2013
Filed:
Jul 16, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/549931
Inventors:
Amy Prescott - Minneapolis MN, US
Lawrence Zhou - Pudong, CN
Roger Widner - Farmington MN, US
Farhad Nourbakhsh - Apple Valley MN, US
Kris Verstockt - Taipei, TW

Assignee:
BBY SOLUTIONS, INC. - Richfield MN
International Classification:
B60R 7/08
US Classification:
2972171
Abstract:
A device and method is presented that attaches a tablet computer to a vehicle headrest. A two-piece mount has a headrest coupling and a tablet housing. The tablet housing has a rigid core attached to a flexible rim portion that secures the tablet computer within the tablet housing. The rigid core has a circular cavity in the rear. The headrest coupling mounts to headrest posts in a vehicle using hinged arms and locking clips. The headrest coupling further has a circular attachment disk that fits within the circular cavity of the tablet housing. Retractable tabs in the circumference of the attachment disk fit within tracks in the walls of the circular cavity. The tabs prevent accidental separation of the tablet housing from the headrest coupling, and allow rotation of the tablet housing when attached to the headrest coupling.
