System And Method For Providing On-Demand Responses To Inquiries Made By Information Consumers

US Patent:
2002016, Nov 7, 2002
Filed:
Dec 17, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/025970
Inventors:
Ronald Tamura - Fremont CA, US
Tze-Yee Szeto - Santa Cruz CA, US
International Classification:
H04M011/00
US Classification:
379/093120, 379/093150
Abstract:
A system for providing demand responses to inquiries made by information consumers includes a database having a plurality of stored responses corresponding to inquiries made by an information consumer wherein each of the stored responses contains at least one stored item returnable to an information consumer in response to an inquiry. The returnable item of the stored response is of a preferred presentation media type that most effectively presents the returnable item. A real time inquiry response system receives inquiries submitted by information consumers from devices having a communications interface. Means are provided for correlating the consumer inquiries received by the real time inquiry response system with inquiry responses stored within the database. The system further includes device/interface identification means for identifying the communications interface and the communications device from which the inquiry from the information consumer is sent, and a stored item return means associated with the real time inquiry response system determines whether a media type for a stored item of the inquiry response is compatible with the communications interface and communications device. The item of the stored response is returned to a communications device having the communications interface which is compatible with the media type of the item of the stored inquiry response. The media type of a stored item of the inquiry response can further be transformed to a different transformed media type in response to an inquiry requiring the presentation of the item of the stored response in the transformed media type.

System And Method For Providing On Demand Responses To Consumer Impulses Produced By A Demand Stimulus

US Patent:
2002017, Nov 21, 2002
Filed:
Dec 17, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/025849
Inventors:
George Wu - Oakland CA, US
Steven Chan - San Francisco CA, US
Ronald Tamura - Fremont CA, US
Elizabeth Shoemaker - Fostser City CA, US
Tze-Yee Szeto - Santa Cruz CA, US
International Classification:
H04N007/173
US Classification:
725/087000, 725/101000
Abstract:
A system for providing on demand responses to consumer impulses produced by a demand stimulus includes a computer processing system and content databases accessible by the computer-processing system having stored stimulus responses corresponding to a plurality of consumer demand stimuli in at least two categories of demand stimuli. A real-time inquiry response system associated with the computer processing system receives inquiries provided by a consumer and identifies the content category with which the consumer inquiry is associated. The computer processing system correlates consumer inquiries received by the real-time inquiry response system with stimulus responses stored in the content database based on the content category identified by the inquiry response system, so that the real-time consumer response system can return to the consumer, in real time, a stored stimulus response which correlates to the consumer inquiry. Categories of demand stimuli can include broadcast and non-broadcast information, and can include a variety of information categories or sub-categories such as music, advertisements, and scheduled events in respect to which a consumer may desire information or make a purchase.

Electrostatic Discharge Protection Bus/Die Edge Seal

US Patent:
6078068, Jun 20, 2000
Filed:
Jul 15, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/116434
Inventors:
Ronald Kazuo Tamura - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Adaptec, Inc. - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
H01L 2710
US Classification:
257203
Abstract:
Disclosed is an integrated circuit chip having an improved ESD protection structure. The integrated circuit chip includes a core logic region having a plurality of transistor devices that are interconnected to form a specific integrated circuit device. A plurality of input/output cells are defined along a periphery of the integrated circuit chip. An ESD bus die edge seal that defines a single ring around the periphery of the integrated circuit chip is provided. The ESD bus die edge seal is positioned outside of the plurality of input/output cells closest to a physical outer edge of the integrated circuit chip. Further, a plurality of (Vss) supply cells are contained in selected ones of the plurality of input/output cells. And, a plurality of ESD cross-coupled diodes are connected between the plurality of (Vss) supply cells and the ESD bus die edge seal. Advantageously, this combined ESD bus and die edge seal provides a more compact structure that also has more uniform charged contaminant collection characteristics.
