Residency and Why I Choose to Become a Realtor I've lived in Virginia Beach for over 20 years and worked as a sale representative throughout most of these years ( Medical Sales mostly). During that time I purchased a home of my own without the help of a Realtor. Though, things turned out OK, I never liked the idea of going through the process as a first time buyer without much guidance or knowledge. It was that experience tha directed my interests toward real estate and ultimately pursue licensure. At the time, I received my license I never realized what a good decision that was going to be for me. In the beginning, real estate sales gave me another source of income because I continued to work in the medical sales field for a while longer. But, as the medical industry began to make vast changes to reflect the impact of the economy, formularies, buying groups, technology and foregin competition. Soon layoffs and downsizing followed and I became one of those casualties. Thank goodness I had another field of interest in which I could step into and therefore, have a means of supporting myself. It's not easy by any means, but I know each day that I have the power to control my earnings and I don't have to be concerned with layoffs. People will always need a place to live and call home. With the training and experience that I have acquired, I believe I make a great resource person for those in search of a home.
