Curtain Wall System And Method

US Patent:
8341901, Jan 1, 2013
Filed:
Nov 7, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/290553
Inventors:
Stephen N. Loyd - Dallas TX, US
Assignee:
Stephen N. Loyd Irrovocable Family Trust - Dallas TX
International Classification:
E04B 2/88
E04G 23/00
US Classification:
52235, 524891, 525862, 52769, 527471
Abstract:
A method includes substantially filling with joint sealant first and second kerfs in upper and lower ends, respectively, of a curtain wall member. A locating-and-retaining member of a latching member is embedded in the first kerf's sealant. A receiving-and-retaining member of a first bracket is embedded in the second kerf's sealant, the wall member initially extending upwardly and angularly outwardly relative to the first bracket. The wall member is pivoted inwardly such that an end of a nominally horizontally-disposed portion of the latching member slides along a lower surface of a supporting member of a second bracket causing the latching member to rotate downwardly, compressing foam tape beneath the horizontally-disposed portion. The end of the latching member moves past a locking member until a latch comes into latching engagement with the locking member, the foam tape decompressing and maintaining the latching member in engagement with the lower surface.

Curtain Wall System And Method

US Patent:
2005024, Nov 10, 2005
Filed:
Mar 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/074086
Inventors:
Stephen Loyd - Dallas TX, US
International Classification:
E04H001/00
US Classification:
052235000
Abstract:
A curtain wall system and method facilitates the installation of exterior and interior curtain walls. Brackets are mounted at equally spaced vertical intervals receive and secure curtain wall members installed from the top of the wall down. A kerf formed in the lower end of each wall member is received on a receiving and retaining member located at the distal end of the supporting member of each bracket. A kerf formed in the upper end of the wall member receives a locating and retaining member having a latch secured thereto. The wall member and the latch are then rotated towards the bracket until the latch engages with a locking member of the bracket, thereby securing the wall member in place.

Curtain Wall System And Method

US Patent:
2008021, Sep 11, 2008
Filed:
May 21, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/124647
Inventors:
Stephen N. Loyd - Dallas TX, US
International Classification:
E04B 2/88
E04G 21/14
E04G 23/02
US Classification:
5274216, 5274712, 5274521
Abstract:
A curtain wall system and method comprises supporting channels including vertical receiving and retaining members which engage kerfs formed in the lower edges of curtain wall members. Latching members have locating and retaining members which are received in kerfs form in the upper edges of the curtain wall members. The curtain wall members are rotated inwardly causing the latching members to slide along the under surfaces of the supporting channels and into engagement with locking members. A second embodiment comprises supporting channels and latching members having spaced apart vertically disposed locating members which receive the opposite ends of the curtain wall members. A third embodiment comprises gap filling members which are received between adjacent curtain wall members and comprise hooks located adjacent to the lower ends of the gap filling members for engagement with vertically disposed receiving and retaining members extending upwardly from supporting channels. Latching members located at upper ends of the gap filling members slide along the lower surfaces of the supporting channels and into locking engagement therewith.

Filling Gaps In A Curtain Wall System

US Patent:
2012011, May 17, 2012
Filed:
Nov 7, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/290701

E04B 2/88
US Classification:
52235, 527414, 525822, 523021
Abstract:
In certain embodiments, a system includes a plurality of curtain wall members positioned in a horizontal array, a first curtain wall member separated from an adjacent second curtain wall member by a gap. The system further includes a gap-filling member positioned in the gap separating the adjacent first and second curtain wall members, the gap filling member comprising one or more vents.

Curtain Wall System And Method

US Patent:
2020014, May 7, 2020
Filed:
Jan 6, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/735282
Inventors:
- Dallas TX, US
Stephen N. Loyd - Dallas TX, US
International Classification:
E04F 13/25
E04B 2/90
E04B 1/41
E06B 3/54
E04F 13/08
Abstract:
In certain embodiments, a system includes a curtain wall member and a first curtain wall member mounting apparatus coupled to a first end of the curtain wall member. The first curtain wall member mounting apparatus includes a mounting plate and an arm having one or more projections. The first curtain wall member mounting apparatus engages with a first curtain wall member supporting channel having a vertically-disposed member and a horizontally-disposed supporting member having a receiving-and-retaining member extending from an end opposite the vertically-disposed member. The receiving-and-retaining member engages with a channel adjacent to one or more projections of the first curtain wall member mounting apparatus. The first curtain wall member mounting apparatus is adapted to be rotated into position such that a connection mechanism at a second end of the curtain wall member engages with a second curtain wall member supporting channel to retain the curtain wall member in position.

Clip For Curtain Wall System And Associated Method For Installation

US Patent:
2017033, Nov 23, 2017
Filed:
May 17, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/598040
Inventors:
Stephen N. Loyd - Dallas TX, US
International Classification:
E04B 2/88
E04F 13/08
Abstract:
In certain embodiments, an apparatus includes a body, a first hook, and a second hook. The body of the apparatus includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The first hook extends from the first surface of the body, and the first hook and a portion of the body form a first channel. The first channel is adapted to receive a curtain wall member from a first direction. The second hook extends from the second surface of the body, and the second hook and the portion of the body form a second channel. The second channel is adapted to receive an intermediate member from a second direction that is opposite to the first direction.
