Synthetic Urethra With Closure Device

US Patent:
2013007, Mar 28, 2013
Filed:
May 11, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/469105
Inventors:
Tim Crabtree - Plymouth MN, US
Nicholas Ellering - Crystal MN, US
Allen Gaynor - Coon Rapids MN, US
Michael B. Hektner - Minneapolis MN, US
Steve Knop - Maple Grove MN, US
Assignee:
Coloplast A/S - Humlebaek
International Classification:
A61F 2/04
US Classification:
600 31
Abstract:
An incontinence treatment device includes a section of synthetic urethra and a closure device attached to the section of synthetic urethra. The section of synthetic urethra provides a flow diameter and is configured to be spliced into a natural urethra such that the flow diameter is aligned with a lumen of the natural urethra for passage of urine. The closure device is attached to the section of synthetic urethra and operable to coapt the flow diameter to allow a user to impede the passage of urine and be continent.

Synthetic Urethra And Closure Device Attachable Around The Synthetic Urethra

US Patent:
2013007, Mar 28, 2013
Filed:
May 18, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/474724
Inventors:
Tim Crabtree - Plymouth MN, US
Nicholas Ellering - Crystal MN, US
Michael B. Hektner - Minneapolis MN, US
Steve Knop - Maple Grove MN, US
Allen Gaynor - Coon Rapids MN, US
Assignee:
Coloplast A/S - Humlebaek
International Classification:
A61F 2/04
US Classification:
600 31
Abstract:
An incontinence treatment device includes a synthetic urethra and a cuff separate from the synthetic urethra. The synthetic urethra provides a flow diameter that is configured to be spliced into a natural urethra such that the flow diameter is aligned with a lumen of the natural urethra for passage of urine. A closure device includes a pump communicating between a reservoir and the cuff. The cuff is attachable around an outer circumference of the synthetic urethra. The pump is operable to move a liquid from the reservoir to inflate the cuff, the inflated cuff adapted to circumferentially compress and constrict the flow diameter of the synthetic urethra.

Cuff Of An Artificial Urinary Sphincter System

US Patent:
2017002, Jan 26, 2017
Filed:
Oct 5, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/285502
Inventors:
- Humlebaek, DK
Carly Aho - Long Prarie MN, US
Michael B. Hektner - Minneapolis MN, US
Steve Knop - Maple Grove MN, US
Jessica Santos - Lino Lakes MN, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/00
Abstract:
A cuff of an artificial urinary sphincter system includes a frame and an inflatable balloon. The frame has a first end spaced away from a second end by a gap, where the gap extends from a top edge to a bottom edge of the frame to provide an opening in the frame. The frame has a frame length measured along an interior surface of the frame from the first end to the send end of the frame to define a first quadrant that extends from the first end for a distance of about 25% of the frame length and a second quadrant that extends from the second end for a distance of about 25% of the frame length. A first inflatable balloon attached to the interior surface of the frame in the first quadrant of the frame.

Incontinence Treatment Device And Method Of Treating Urinary Incontinence

US Patent:
2015014, May 28, 2015
Filed:
Feb 4, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/613512
Inventors:
- Humleback, DK
Nicholas Ellering - Crystal MN, US
Michael B. Hektner - Minneapolis MN, US
Steve Knop - Maple Grove MN, US
Allen Gaynor - Coon Rapids MN, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/00
A61F 2/04
US Classification:
600 31
Abstract:
An incontinence treatment device and method of treating urinary incontinence in a person includes fabricating an artificial urethra to have a flow diameter formed inside of a circumferential wall and a closure device attached directly to a portion of an outer surface of the circumferential wall of the artificial urethra. The artificial urethra is sized to be spliced to a natural urethra for alignment of the flow diameter of the artificial urethra with a lumen of the natural urethra. A pump is provided for moving liquid out of a reservoir and into the closure device to push the outer surface of the circumferential wall into the flow diameter of the artificial urethra, which operates to close the flow diameter of the artificial urethra.

Artificial Urinary Sphincter System Having A Cuff With An Inflatable Balloon Attached To A Frame

US Patent:
2014037, Dec 25, 2014
Filed:
Jun 21, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/923372
Inventors:
- Humlebaek, DK
Carly Aho - Long Prarie MN, US
Michael B. Hektner - Minneapolis MN, US
Steve Knop - Maple Grove MN, US
Jessica Santos - Lino Lakes MN, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/00
US Classification:
600 31
Abstract:
An artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) system includes a pump attachable with tubing between a pressure regulating reservoir and a cuff. The cuff is configured for placement around a portion of a urethra and has a frame with at least one inflatable balloon attached to the frame. A gap is formed from a top edge to a bottom edge of the frame, where the gap provides the rigid frame with a C-shaped conformation in lateral cross-section having a first lateral section separated from a second lateral section. Each inflatable balloon(s) is/are attached to an interior surface on one of the first lateral section or the second lateral section of the frame.
