Assist in operations under supervision of surgeons by: setting up the operating room, preparing and transporting patients for surgery, adjusting lights, and equipment, passing instruments and other supplies to surgeon and first assist, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and helping count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. observing patients conditions, measuring and recording intake and output as well as vital signs, and reporting changes to medical staff. Also answering call lights, removing patients Foley catheters and IVs, collecting specimens for the lab, checking patents blood sugars, transporting patients using wheelchairs or beds and using bladder scan machines and other medical equipment. turning and repositioning bedridden patents, feeding patients, providing patients with help walking and moving in/out of bed. Also bathing, grooming, shaving, and dressing patents to prepare them for daily living and changing linens/ cleaning rooms as needed.
