Campen Eye Care A full service ophthalmology practice including Lasik Eye Surgery and other ophthalmology procedures. History Thomas Campen is a board-certified ophthalmologist that has worked in general ophthalmology settings as well as specialty settings. After training in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, he completed a fellowship in anterior segment ophthalmology at Louisiana State University Medical School, focusing upon cataract surgery and disorders of the anterior portion of the eye. He subsequently trained in Lasik surgery, and for the past fifteen years he has performed over 10,000 Lasik procedures across the country, most recently in Savannah, Georgia in association with Lasik Plus Corporation. At this time he has established his own practice in Savannah, which includes general ophthalmology and procedures associated with the anterior segment of the eye, including Lasik, PRK. He is currently on staff at St.Josephs/Candler Hospitals and a provider for many health insurance entities. Attached as Appendix A is his Curriculum Vitae. Business Description/Products and Services Regularly scheduled examination of the eyes plus treatment of any anterior segment problems, including eye infections, vision problems; determining parameters for correcting vision with eyeglasses or surgical treatments, including Lasik or PRK. Although future plans may include eyeglass sales, the current plan is for vision evaluation and treatment. An ophthalmology practice that incorporates Lasik or PRK addresses all age groups. The young adult/adult population finds Lasik helpful in eliminating the need for eyeglasses. The huge elderly population needs cataract surgery. All age groups benefit from regular eye exams. Dr. Campen has performed far more Lasik and PRK than any other ophthalmologist in the Savannah area, giving him an advantage in attracting patients for these surgeries. His wife, Dr. Rebecca Campen, has a busy dermatology practice, creating a base of referrals for general ophthalmology patients. Samantha Mascunana serves as office manager for both Campen Dermatology and Campen Eye Care. Campen Eye Care is located at 5102 Paulsen, Building #5. Dr. Campen utilizes Building #5 for performing eye examinations, screening patients requesting Lasik and PRK, determining parameters for eyeglasses needed by patients, and treating problems in the anterior segment of the eye. He will schedule his Lasik and PRK procedures in another facility. Previously the procedures were done in the Lasik Plus facilities in Savannah and around the country.
