A method of treating a subject with cancer includes the step of co-administering to the subject over three to five weeks, a taxane in an amount of between about 243 μmol/m2 to 315 μmol/m2 (e. g. , equivalent to paclitaxel in about 210-270 mg/m2); and a bis(thiohydrazide amide) in an amount between about 1473 μmol/m2 and about 1722 μmol/m2 (e. g. , Compound (1) in about 590-690 mg/m2). The bis(thiohydrazide amide) is represented by Structural Formula (I), Y is a covalent bond or an optionally substituted straight chained hydrocarbyl group, or, Y, taken together with both >C=Z groups to which it is bonded, is an optionally substituted aromatic group. R-Rare independently —H, an optionally substituted aliphatic group, an optionally substituted aryl group, or Rand Rtaken together with the carbon and nitrogen atoms to which they are bonded, and/or Rand Rtaken together with the carbon and nitrogen atoms to which they are bonded, form a non-aromatic heterocyclic ring optionally fused to an aromatic ring. Method And Apparatus For Study Of Gas-Phase And Gas-Borne Agents

US Patent:
5308758, May 3, 1994
Filed:
Oct 9, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/959311
Inventors:
Thomas A. Dahl - Boston MA
Assignee:
Tufts University - Boston MA
International Classification:
C12Q 124
C12M 104
US Classification:
435 30
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for exposing biological materials to gas-phase or gas-borne agents, including the steps of providing a chamber for supporting said biological materials, said chamber including wicking means configured and arranged to hold said biological materials and provide said cells with a wetting medium while allowing said gas-phase or gas-borne agents to directly interact with said biological materials, humidifying said chamber to a humidity between 95% and 100%, inclusive, placing said biological materials in said chamber on said wicking means, exposing said biological materials in said chamber to one or more said gas-phase or gas-borne agents while maintaining said humidity between 95% and 100%, inclusive, and assessing the effect of said exposing on said biological materials.

Greener Software Defined Storage Stack

US Patent:
2022034, Oct 27, 2022
Filed:
Apr 27, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/242025
Inventors:
- Hopkinton MA, US
Thomas Fridtjof Dahl - Westford MA, US
International Classification:
G06F 9/50
Abstract:
A method for managing client resources by receiving a desired load factor representing the number of instructions being executed per second (IOPS) to implement an application on a set of cores of a client device, based on the desired load factor and a latency factor, determining a maximum number of IOPS that can be executed by the cores of the client device before reaching system saturation, determining a pattern of the IOPS being executed on the set of cores based on historical IOPS information for the latency factor, and based on the historical IOPS information, determining to execute the IOPS on a subset of the set of cores.

Methods And Systems For Seamlessly Provisioning Client Application Nodes In A Distributed System

US Patent:
2023012, Apr 27, 2023
Filed:
Oct 27, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/512204
Inventors:
- Hopkinton MA, US
Thomas Fridtjof Dahl - Westford MA, US
International Classification:
G06F 16/11
G06F 3/06
H04L 29/08
Abstract:
In general, embodiment relate to a method for provisioning a plurality of client application nodes in a distributed system using a management node, the method comprising: creating a file system in a namespace; associating the file system with a scale out volume; mounting the file system on a metadata node in the distributed system, wherein mounting the file system comprises storing a scale out volume record of the scale out volume; storing file system information for the file system in a second file system on the management node, wherein the file system information specifies the file system and the metadata node on which the file system is mounted; wherein storing the file system information triggers distribution of the file system information to at least a portion of a plurality of client application nodes.
