I started painting in preparation for early retirement. Although I enjoyed painting at school, I received no formal tuition or training other than adult education classes and various workshops and courses over the past few years, so I am largely self-taught. I now work primarily in oils but also use other media depending on the situation or location I am in. My subjects primarily cover our wonderful Dorset coast and landscapes. I usually have my sketchbook with me and enjoy drawing very quickly directly in ink. My paintings are a combination of these sketches, sometimes with reference photos, plus some plain air work during the summer. I have exhibited in group exhibitions with Dorset Art Weeks since 2002. I held a solo exhibition at Mill Lane Gallery, Wimborne, Dorset in 2006. Pictures from the 2006 DAW exhibition as well as the Mill Lane Gallery show were featured by The Muse magazine. I have also had paintings accepted into various open exhibitions organised by Poole and East Dorset Art Society (PEDAS) of which I have been a member since 2009. In June 2012 I was one of Three Women Artists in the exhibition of that name at the Peacock Gallery in Upton Country Park. I paint regularly with PEDAS and the Sandbanks Group of Artists and participate in all their exhibitions at the Peacock Gallery.
