High Speed Data Communication Link Using Triaxial Cable

US Patent:
7314997, Jan 1, 2008
Filed:
Jul 18, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/183474
Inventors:
Vincent Mui - Livonia MI, US
Assignee:
Yazaki North America, Inc. - Canton MI
International Classification:
H01B 7/00
US Classification:
174 28, 174 36
Abstract:
A high speed data communication link has a circuit for providing a differential signal having first and second opposite phase components and a triaxial cable connected to receive the positive phase component of the signal on the inner conductor and the negative phase signal component on the center conductor which is made of wire mesh. An outer conductor such as a foil tape or wire mesh has a drain wire connected to ground and provides electric field shielding. EMI cancellation is provided by this arrangement particularly where the inner and center conductors have approximately the same resistance.

Device And Method For Interfacing Video Devices Over A Fiber Optic Link

US Patent:
2006008, Apr 20, 2006
Filed:
Oct 15, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/966823
Inventors:
Michael Boyd - Saline MI, US
Jason Beaudoin - Plymouth MI, US
Vincent Mui - Livonia MI, US
International Classification:
H03M 9/00
US Classification:
341100000
Abstract:
A system and method for interfacing video devices over a link where electronic digital video data having a quantity (n) of bits of parallel data transmitted electronically at a first clock rate (R) is converted to a stream of electronic serial data that is transmitted a second clock rate (R=R×n). The stream of electronic serial data is transmitted over a link that can be a fiber optic link or include one or more conductors. A receiver is employed to convert the data transmitted over the link into an output data stream having (n) bits of parallel data transmitted electronically at the first clock rate (R). If the link is a fiber optic link, the receiver can convert the data transmitted over the link into to a second stream electronic serial data that is transmitted at the second clock rate (R) and then to the output data stream.
