Method And Device For Producing Plastic Hollow Bodies

US Patent:
2002007, Jun 20, 2002
Filed:
Dec 28, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/028909
Inventors:
Dietmar Przytulla - Kerpen, DE
William Lima - Monmouth Beach NJ, US
Assignee:
MAUSER WERKE GMBH - Bruhl
International Classification:
B32B001/02
B29C049/04
B29C049/22
B29C049/78
B29D022/00
US Classification:
264/040100, 428/036500, 264/515000, 264/540000, 425/532000, 425/381000, 425/466000
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and a device for producing blow-molded plastic hollow bodies. The device is of an enhanced design which avoids the shortcomings of traditional blow-molding technology. The extrusion die according to this invention is adjustable for different settings to produce different, partly overlapping wall thicknesses of the parison blank in order to compensate for the insufficiencies inherent in blow-molding and to obtain a finished blow-molded product with as consistent and uniform a wall thickness as possible, with an overlay, for instance in vertical wall sections, of evenly spaced longitudinal ribs. A technical concept is introduced whereby, as a novel process, the two conventional measures used to achieve a uniform wall thickness in the finished blow-molded hollow body are complemented by an additional, third step which makes it possible to produce containers whose hollow bodies are provided with targeted, intentional and reproducible irregular wall-thickness patterns.

The extrusion die according to this invention is adjustable for different settings to produce different, partly overlapping wall thicknesses of the parison blank in order to compensate for the insufficiencies inherent in blow-molding and to obtain a finished blow-molded product with as consistent and uniform a wall thickness as possible, with an overlay, for instance in vertical wall areas, of evenly spaced longitudinal ribs (). A technical concept is introduced whereby, as a novel process, the two conventional measures used to achieve a uniform wall thickness in the finished blow-molded hollow body are complemented by an additional, third step which makes it possible to produce containers whose hollow bodies () are provided with targeted, intentional and reproducible irregular wall thickness patterns.

Drum Liner Locking And Locating Assembly

US Patent:
5222620, Jun 29, 1993
Filed:
Jul 22, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/918939
Inventors:
William Lima - Monmouth Beach NJ
Earl V. Lind - Brick NJ
Assignee:
Russell-Stanley Corporation - Red Bank NJ
International Classification:
B65D 2520
US Classification:
220404
Abstract:
A drum liner locking and locating apparatus is provided for securing a drum liner to a drum. The drum liner apparatus primarily comprises a fitting, a liner, and a non-releasable securing means. The fitting is passed through an opening in the lid of a drum before the lid is attached to the drum. The fitting can only be passed through the opening so that the liner is in a position that the liner can expand to the full size of the drum. After the fitting is in place, the non-releasable securing means fastens the fitting to the drum raising the drum liner to the top of the drum. Consequently, to remove the drum liner, the top of the drum must be removed destroying the drum and prohibiting reconditioning or reuse of the drum.
